At the heart of Kern is a modular approach that allows furniture to adapt to different spaces, activities and ways of working.
The latest development expands this flexibility, introducing new elements that extend the possibilities of the original collection.
Rather than defining a single way of using a space, Kern provides a framework that can respond to changing needs.

Originally conceived as a flexible modular seating system, Kern continues to develop into a broader family of furniture.
The new additions extend its scale and application, offering greater choice for creating spaces to meet, collaborate, work or relax.
Designed with Inclass, the expanded collection brings a consistent design approach to an increasingly diverse range of shared environments.

Developing a modular collection requires each element to work independently while contributing to a coherent whole.
Through an iterative process of drawing, modelling and refinement, we explore the relationships between form, structure and connection.
For Kern, this thinking is central to creating a system that can grow in scale and application without losing its design identity.

Making design work.

What does it take to create design that stands the test of time?

From aviation interiors to evolving workspaces, London-based design studio @pearsonlloyd has spent nearly three decades challenging conventions and rethinking how we interact with the spaces and products around us.

We caught up with founders Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd to explore their creative journey, the changing nature of workplace design and why circularity is shaping the future of their practice.

Designing for the changing workplace means understanding how people interact with furniture, and how furniture can support different activities throughout the day.

Through prototyping, testing and refinement, we have continued to develop Revo with @profim_design , exploring new configurations and details that expand the collection's possibilities.

The result is an evolution of Revo, building on its original character while creating new opportunities for use.

Returning to Revo for @profim_design , we have worked with Profim to expand the collection, building on its original design principles while introducing new possibilities for the contemporary workplace.

The renewed collection extends Revo's flexibility and application through new elements and configurations, creating more opportunities for people to work, meet and interact.

An evolution of the original design, shaped by the changing needs of shared environments.

The simplicity of @profim_design 's Unelo's form conceals a carefully engineered approach to comfort and construction.

Ergonomics are embedded within the structure of each chair, from engineered foams to armrests designed to support the forearm at table height. Without complex adjustment mechanisms, comfort feels intuitive and natural.

Every component has been considered for its performance, material efficiency and longevity, creating a family of chairs that is both approachable and highly resolved.

One family, many possibilities.

Developed as a single industrial platform, Unelo for @profim_design brings together a comprehensive family of chairs through a shared system of carefully engineered components.
Four distinct chair shells and a variety of base options create a versatile collection, designed to support different activities and environments, from meeting rooms and workplaces to hospitality and social spaces.
Circularity and efficiency have informed the design from the outset, resulting in a collection that combines intuitive comfort with an approachable design language.

Unelo for @profim_design : Designing the platform first.

Rather than developing individual chairs, we began by considering the needs of the entire collection.

Through product mapping, prototyping and detailed industrial design, we developed a common platform of shared components capable of delivering multiple seating typologies.

This approach allows individual parts to be optimised for manufacture, material efficiency and use across the family, reducing the tooling and complexity required to create a broad collection.

Designed without adhesives, Unelo can be disassembled for repair, refurbishment and material recovery, extending the useful life of each chair.

A considered approach to industrial design, where the intelligence of the platform is as important as the products it enables.
