Sports card Artist. Sports card Lover.
Every card tells many stories, I’m just sharing mine.

Every collector has that one card or sports moment they’ll never forget. If you’ve ever wanted to see your favourite transformed into an original one of a kind oil painting, I’d be honored to create it. by @peicardguy

So happy these 1981 and ‘82 OPC insert posters are finally out of their box, sleeved and toploaded and now able to be displayed and enjoyed for the first time in 45 years. I get why oversize 5”x7”s are unpopular in the hobby. These things are hideous! Especially the Carter and Dawson.

It’s always a weird week when baseball season ends. Every single year. But this one feels different. I think it’s highly unlikely there will be a MLB season in ‘27. That along with the political BS that is going on in my own baseball Umpiring career, I’m wondering if 50 years of being on the field is coming to an end for me too. I’m hoping it all gets worked out, and we’re all out there again next summer. But that’s up to the Baseball Gods now. Nonetheless young reader, Congratulations to @williamcontreras42 on a well deserved World Champion MVP. I don’t like all the showboating and excessive mustard in today’s game, and I hate the catchers on one knee, and the best pitcher on the planet on 11 days rest in the WORLD SERIES going only 5 innings, throwing only 78 pitches, in a 1 run game, giving up only 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 K’s and no walks being taken out! The game has changed so much, but I’ve accepted that it just is what it is. But when it comes to actual catching and hitting, this kid can play. I just hope we get to see him defend that WS MVP title next year. by @peicardguy

I know where I was 22 years ago tonight. The same could be said by millions of lifelong Red Sox fans I’m sure. I was born in ‘67. ‘75 hurt, but hooked me for life. ‘78 killed me more than ‘86. Boone was a kick in the ROML’s. But all was forgotten in ‘04. I’m not really a #CoffinCard kinda guy, I’m just taking care of these cards for the next generation. But if I was, this card might be it. by @peicardguy

Who better for today’s #MustacheMonday than 3D Stormin’ Gorman? He was the quintessential all-or-nothing slugger. He wasn’t going to win many batting titles, but he could launch a baseball a country mile. Thomas was known for stopping at tailgate parties and local taverns, sharing beers and spending time with ordinary Brewers fans. He didn’t maintain the distance that some professional athletes did. He was approachable, unpretentious and happy to enjoy himself. His personality seemed to fit Milwaukee’s working-class, beer-loving baseball culture perfectly. And don’t forget young reader, he played a tremendous centre field. He made aggressive plays and sometimes crashed into outfield walls, yet played 243 straight games for the Brew Crew in centre. He played with the kind of unpolished abandon fans could relate to. For baseball-card collectors, that’s what makes his cards special, too. He’s not one of the GOATS, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a special place in baseball history that’s full of stories, especially in Milwaukee. You’re not just looking at a slugger’s statistics. You’re looking at a player who became part of a city’s identity. Go Brewers. Do it for the original Harvey Wallbanger, James Gorman Thomas the 3rd. by @peicardguy

I’m embarrassed I’ve only posted one Mr. October all month. Shame on me. Love this shot of Reggie ripping one to the gap in the strike shortened summer of ‘81 at The Stadium. And how cool are these old stickers young reader? Made to be peeled and stuck in an album, never meant to survive 45 years. Plenty didn’t make it. But this one did. by @peicardguy

If you were to feature a modern pitcher for #FastballFriday, who better to represent than Jacob Misiorowski? I love watching his starts and his incredible heater, even tho it’s usually never more than 5 innings. 🙄 I’m old school. I don’t mind saying it. There are so many things I can’t stand about today’s game, and I guess number one for me would be the showboating. Hobby hero Mickey Mantle once said, “After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases.” That’s how I was raised. Rays third baseman Junior Caminero took 38.66 seconds to round the bases after his home run in Game 6 of the ALCS. Back in the day Caminero would be taken care of in his next at bat. Although I know it won’t happen, that doesn’t mean I haven’t asked the Baseball Gods to have Misiorowski drill him in the ribs with a 105mph fastball tonight. But I seldom pray to the Baseball Gods anymore, they rarely listen.
Go Brewers. by @peicardguy

I’ve had this card almost 50 years, and suddenly today, it feels different. Ron Duguay made quite an impression on us kids when he burst on the NHL scene back in ‘77. By the time his stardom made it to PEI in the papers and magazines, he had long hair. In fact, he became known for it. It was possibly one of the most recognizable hair styles in hockey history, and the ladies loved him for it. It made no sense that he had short hair on his rookie card, until I found out why he did. An old hockey tradition welcoming him to the league was performed by Nick Fotiu, John Davidson, Dave Maloney and Ron Greschner. It was a different time. This is hockey card lore that I’ll never forget, and brings me back to being 10 again, and I’m looking up to Ron Duguay who was the talk of the hockey world, and the talk of New York City. That’s how I’ll remember him.

Happy 80th Scoop! Fellow Lumber Company slugger Willie Stargell said, “It was a treat to see a dedicated individual and a great pure hitter come along. We knew right off the bat that we had a diamond. He came in with a tremendous amount of self-confidence as well.” Dock Ellis had similar comments several years later after Oliver was traded, “He was one of our team leaders. If a team listens to him, it can feed off his confidence, and that was the case with the Pirates. We were roommates coming up through the system, and he always used to say, ‘If you can hit, you can hit. I don’t need no batting practice.’ He was extremely confident, in a positive way.” His first solo card is an absolute stunner. It’s a cryin’ shame Al Oliver is not enshrined in Cooperstown. A cryin’ shame young reader. by @peicardguy

51 years ago tonight, one of the most underrated players in all of sports, Bryan Trottier scored his first NHL hat trick on October 11, 1975, during just his second career game. It didn’t take long for Trottier to showcase his goalscoring talents in the NHL as he not only scored his first goal in his second career game but also his first hat trick. Every goal was assisted by fellow Saskatchewan native sophomore Clark Gillies (who was 21 at the time) and by the end of the game, Trottier had five points on the strength of three goals and two assists. As for the goaltender he scored his first three goals on, Trottier would go on to torch Rogie Vachon over his career to the tune of 11 goals and 26 points in 22 games. His rookie card epitomizes to me what a 19 year old unassuming killer assassin looks like. He lives on a farm on the prairies in the off-season, and his name is Trottier. Bryan Trottier, number 19. by @peicardguy

Trying to send some good Cleveland vibes out there tonight for game 5, and who better to do that than Super Joe himself? Charboneau not only captured the AL Rookie of the Year in 1980, but he also won the hearts of the Nation, and as far away as PEI, Canada too, because my buddy Trevor and I loved him. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you young reader about that magical summer, and I couldn’t do it any better than the back of his ‘81 Kellogg’s anyway. Sorry ChiSox fans, but I’ll never forgive that organization for the way they got rid of my favourite player Carlton Fisk. So cool I found a photo of them together. Go get ‘em Cleveland, do it for Pudge, and do it for Super Joe. by @peicardguy
