In an unexpected announcement during a recent press conference, the cast of The Remarried Empress—Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk, and Lee Seyoung—revealed that the highly anticipated K-drama epic will premiere a day early. The first four episodes will be available exclusively on Disney+ Philippines starting today, November 3. To celebrate the early drop, Disney+ Philippines will also launch the local trailer on its official social media channels at 7:00 PM today. Adding a special touch for Filipino viewers, the trailer features the OPM classic “’Til I Met You,” capturing the story's romantic themes of unexpected love and transformation. Originally scheduled for November 4, the release was moved up as a gesture of appreciation for the massive fan hype surrounding the series. Hype has been building rapidly following sold-out preview screenings at the Busan International Film Festival and a payoff trailer that surpassed 13 million views within 48 hours of release. Adapted from the hit NAVER WEBTOON with nearly three billion views, The Remarried Empress follows Navier, a devoted empress whose marriage to Emperor Sovieshu falls apart when he falls for an escaped slave, Rashta. Refusing to lose her dignity, Navier agrees to a divorce on one key condition: she must be permitted to remarry Crown Prince Heinrey of the rival Western Kingdom. What unfolds is a sweeping tale of power, betrayal, and romance that puts an empire at stake. by @pelikulamaniaph
It plays out like The Shining meets Insidious. It carries the patient, slow-burn tension of Stanley Kubrick’s classic without dragging, while borrowing just enough of the astral-projection intrigue of Insidious to grab your attention early on. Yet Never After Dark isn't merely a collage of horror tropes. It carves out a distinct identity of its own, crafting a narrative that feels fresh, even as it taps into a deeply familiar sense of dread. Going in blind, you might be surprised to learn the film was directed by an American filmmaker, Dave Boyle. With its atmospheric Japanese setting, authentic cast—led by a magnetic performance from Moeka Hoshi, and native-language dialogue, the entire production feels genuinely, authentically Japanese. That subtle cross-cultural lens turns out to be one of its greatest strengths. Boyle presents local folklore and ghost-story conventions through a globally accessible lens, making the narrative easy to digest for international audiences without diluting the cultural nuances or the potency of its scares. Driven by a focused sense of direction and grounded by convincing, emotionally vulnerable characters, Never After Dark succeeds as both a terrifying ghost story and a grounded human drama. It delivers real chills, but it leaves you lingering on its underlying grief long after the credits roll. Never After Dark is now showing exclusively at SM Cinemas as part of Sine Sindak: The 7th Cycle. Rated R-13 by the MTRCB. by @pelikulamaniaph
