When was the last time you were truly present in the moment? Not thinking about work, plans, life, goals…?

Especially when you‘re ambitious with your career or starting your own company, it takes up so much of your headspace. There are few things in life that give me this 100% presence in the moment and really let me turn my head off.

One of them is photography. Walking around a new place and just trying to freeze moments.

I captured this one of @ifyoulieyoulose as he was jumping around at @friendswhovolley and thought it was such a nice representation of truly letting go - just floating in the air.

Whatever the way to be more present is for you - sports, art, meditation, or time with friends - it’s worth investing as much time as possible into it.

“On Fire”
For the last 4 years I’ve taken an enormous amount of photos (currently 18,000 unedited selections - dios mio).

Since I’ve been all-in on building inClimate, the idea of sitting at a laptop even more, editing photos, and sharing them…

It just seemed like too much work for one person - I fell out of love with it.

But I think it’s just an excuse that I told myself to not see myself as a photographer - the double-imposter syndrome of both being an entrepreneur AND a photographer just kicked in for me.

But lately I’ve felt this itch again. I don’t just want to be Tim the climate entrepreneur, why can’t I also be Tim the photographer? I’m not just one thing.

I might even be able to combine those two perfectly - so why am I not pursuing something that I love?

All that to say - I will be editing and posting more of my photos here again. Not stuff that the algorithm loves, just photographs that I took and like.

Life is too short not to share what you’re passionate about.

Big hug

Happy World Ocean Day! 🐠
Last year I had the privilege to spend lots of time in the Ocean because my girlfriend is the potentially biggest ocean nerd in the world (right after Sylvia Earle).

She might honestly be a fish, I’m not sure at this point.

I got to learn a lot about the challenges our oceans face and the incredible solutions that people around the world are working on.

I decided to publish my first ever deep dive on Ocean Restoration (you can check it out on inClimate.com). And I can’t wait to learn so much more about these solutions + do my part in helping those companies thrive.

Last year I also had loads of fun taking my first underwater photos - another expensive addiction unlocked.

Can’t wait to dive more (pun intended) into this world this year and to make sure I can help many many more people find jobs working on ocean solutions via inClimate.

And to take many many photos.

Please, if you can, make sure to spend some time in the ocean this year - it’s so magical!

Pengerupukan is a Balinese Hindu ritual held the day before Nyepi (24 hours of silence). It’s a loud, noisy, and really vibrant celebration that symbolizes the cleansing of negative energy (Bhuta Kala) from the community before the New Year.

I was lucky to witness and photograph this celebration in Bali, in a small town called Culik.

People are running through the street while carrying gigantic monster statues, loud ritual music everywhere, fire, noise, thousands of people…

I tried my best to photograph it in a way that captures how chaotic and overstimulating this ritual is - blurry, noisy, powerful.

Turn on the music on this post to get a feeling for what it sounds like on the street that day. by @peoplebytim

I injured my back for these photos, so you better love them 😅

Swam around Lipah Beach to look at some coral restoration projects down there when suddenly this guy popped up right in front of me.

I figured it would look really cool to swim down and get a shot against the sun from below, but I totally underestimated the current and got so focused on the turtle that I got dragged full on against a rock 🗿

Pictures 1-2 capture the beauty of that unexpected encounter. Pictures 3-4 capture a not-so-nice reality 2 minutes later when the turtle tried to take a bite out of a plastic bag swimming at the surface.

I didn’t want to just upload pretty pictures and ignore the realities of the pollution here in Bali.

This is also my first attempt at editing underwater photos - getting the colors right is so incredibly hard but I hope you like them 🫡
