I first met this cute little pup a few weeks before we lost Callie.
I was really smitten with her and secretly wanted to take her home with me. I thought she’d be a little friend for Callie - keep her young, keep her engaged and they could hang out together and just do dog things.

But Callie’s gone now and my mother in law has offered the puppy to me for my birthday. And I genuinely don’t know what to do.

I miss Callie terribly. I’m heartbroken that she’s gone. But I do miss having a dog around. Someone to love, to spoil, to take care of. And I know that no dog could ever replace my beautiful girl.

So l’m asking those of you who have been through this…

How did you know you were ready for another dog? by @pethatestoys

It’s ALWAYS on the carpet. Never the ‘easy to clean’ hard flooring 😖

🥺 I’ve got so much footage of her, but none of it good enough, none of it does justice to the gentle, loving soul that she was.

I’ve spent many an hour getting it all together, I’ve done a reel then changed it to a carousel, then a movie. But they’re not good enough for me to show you my girl. And if I’m really honest, I’m afraid to post it. ‘What if no one sees her’ ‘What if no one *likes* her?’ For someone, any one not to love the best I have left of my precious friend would break my heart all over again.

So I share with you one of the last photos I took of her, lying in her spot on the lawn, with her beloved Boris toy by her side. Looking happy and relaxed, just one week before she died 🥺

The last few days have been particularly hard. My poor husband is at his wits end, trying to deal with his own grief and mine too. So I hide myself away and cry silent tears and hope nobody notices.

I know that day I will feel peace again. But for now, the feeling of loss is devastating and not knowing why she died is haunting me. I go over and over her last days in my head: should she have had the biopsy, shouldn’t she have been stabilised beforehand, should we have started antibiotics earlier, did she die of internal bleeding? Or sepsis? Or cancer? Or infection, inflammation? Questions that nobody has the answers to. Or at least, if they do, they’re not sharing them with me.

Each day I hold my shattered pieces together. Each day, I’m reminded of her and one day those thoughts will bring me joy. And until then, I keep going. But it’s hard, so hug your beloved pet a bit tighter tonight, for me ❤️‍🩹 xx by @pethatestoys
