In the work of the Department, we are committed to supporting our many multicultural communities across the entire county. Thank you to everyone who participated in events and celebrations throughout Hispanic Heritage Month in Prince George’s County. Director Amaya Thompson and members of the DSS team enjoyed the “Unidos Somos Más” festivities, hosted by County Executive Braveboy and the Prince George’s County Council earlier this month. Prince Georgians’ support and participation in events such as this encourages neighbors to come together to support one another, honor rich culture and tradition, and spotlight the many contributions of our multicultural communities. by @pgccouncil

I was proud to sponsor a Town Hall with the Cannabis Restoration and Reinvestment Board to bring our community together for an important conversation about what’s next for our community. We discussed the work of the Board, the opportunities available through cannabis restoration and reinvestment, and how these efforts can help address community needs and create meaningful opportunities for residents. Most importantly, this was an opportunity to listen, answer questions, and connect residents with the resources and information they need to understand how the Board can support our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their questions and perspectives, and continues to be engaged in shaping the future of our community. If you haven’t done so, please fill out this Cannabis Reinvestment and Restoration survey https://bit.ly/4j8Yrit #CannabisRestoration #CommunityReinvestment #CommunityEngagement #TownHall #District4 by @pgccouncil
As African Immigrant Heritage Month comes to a close, we celebrate the stories, contributions, and legacy that continue far beyond this month.   In our African Immigrant Heritage Month documentary, Council Members reflect on what it means to carry their parents’ and grandparents’ stories with them while serving their community here in Prince George’s. From navigating identity and belonging, to honoring the sacrifices of those who came before them, their stories reflect the strength and resilience of generations.   Watch the full African Immigrant Heritage Month documentary now on our YouTube channel. by @pgccouncil

ICYMI: On Monday, we shared a major investment in higher education and our young people's future. We've cleared about $360,000 in outstanding student debt for current and former Bowie State University students living in District 8, providing debt relief to 64 students this Fall semester. For some students, an outstanding balance can mean putting their education on hold, being unable to register for another semester, or carrying debt from an education they worked hard to pursue. Clearing these balances removes one more financial barrier for students working toward their degrees and for former students preparing for what comes next. This effort ensures our students can keep moving forward without an outstanding university balance holding them back. We are proud to have worked with Bowie State University to provide this assistance directly to District 8 students and families. #bowiestate #district8 #princegeorgescounty by @pgccouncil
Tonight! Sphere at National Harbor is a proposed 6,000-seat entertainment venue. The project is currently under consideration by the Prince George's County Council. Join us for a public listening session this evening. by @pgccouncil
Our Listening Tour brought residents together across the county for three evenings of meaningful conversations, community engagement, and an opportunity to share their concerns, ideas, and priorities. I want to thank everyone who came out, asked questions, and made their voices heard. Hearing directly from our residents is an important part of understanding the needs of our communities and shaping the work ahead. The conversation doesn’t stop here. Together, we can continue working toward a stronger Prince George’s County where every voice is heard! #ListeningTour #PrinceGeorgesCounty #District7 #CommunityEngagement by @pgccouncil
