For Half Term @danheathstudio and I have decided to run a free Bags of Love workshop because it's lockdown and we all need a bit of joy right now. You can come with your children or come on your own - we'd just love to see you.

We'll teach you how to design and print on to a canvas tote bag and then give you some ideas about what you can put into your bag once you've made it and suggest some local charities that you could donate it to too. (Lots of bags are going to foodbanks at the moment and @jw3london is looking for donations to theirs).

The workshop will take place on Wednesday 18th February at 3pm and will last for about an hour. It's free but places are limited so you need to register to reserve a slot.

If you do register you will need the following materials to join in. (You may have some of these in a craft cupboard at home - if not you can buy them either at Hobbycraft or at a local craft store). If you are ordering materials please allow time for them to be delivered before the workshop:

- Tote bag or bags (to design/ give away)

- Fabric paint (you only need one colour but if you want to order more please do!)

- Washing up sponge/ sponge of some kind (which will be thrown away at the end of the workshop)

- Paper plate/ palette

- Plain white paper

- Scissors

- Paintbrush (optional)

This workshop is suitable for children aged 10+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.

Looking forward to seeing some friendly faces then. Link to book in bio by @pieceofcakelondon

Think working remotely means you can't volunteer for your community? Think again!

We’ve worked really hard over the past months to find ways to bring teams together and find ways to give back to local communities whilst we're physically separated from each other. We’ve worked with hundreds of staff at Sky and helped local food banks and other charities. In our workshops people design and print on to canvas bags which are then filled with gifts and given to those that need them most.

Now, as we head into a tough few months, we believe that our Bags of Love Workshops can make a big difference to the teams that take part and to the charities that they will support. So please be in touch if you’d like to find a way to offer them to your teams. I'd love to tell you more about how they work.

Thanks so much to Sky for believing in us and working with us. Working with Team Sky is always such a pleasure.

A few years ago I set up a group called The Table for people who work for themselves. It met every couple of months and we shared challenges and tried to help each other out.

A few weeks ago we tried a Zoom version (bring your own cake and lunch). Anyone who works for themselves is welcome - I confused my initial date but am now looking at Friday 5th June at 1pm. If you're interested let me know and I'll send details. by @pieceofcakelondon

We are all adjusting to working differently and working out how to get things done. Everyone that I work with, in fact everyone that I know, is now facing new challenges. We all have to work out how to deliver projects, strategies and events in a world that is hugely changed. Fundraising still has to happen, connections and relationships need to be maintained, creative events need to be rethought. What hasn't changed is that sometimes an outside perspective can be really helpful in kickstarting a project and now, more than ever, collaboration is going to be really important.
With that in mind, I'd like to see if I can help you think things through over a cup of tea (via zoom for now). and I'm offering number of complimentary sessions each week. Perhaps I can help you think about how to creatively approach the event you were planning before lockdown, how to deliver the project that is now more complicated, how to generate income, how to maintain important relationships or perhaps we can just take a breath and catch up. And if I can't help you then I may know of someone in my network who can.
If you think that spending half an hour with me would be useful then be in touch. I’d love to hear from you.

Covid19 is challenging us in new ways and that is unnerving and, let's be honest, a little frightening however much we don't want it to be. Just this morning a number of projects that I had confirmed for the next three months have been postponed. Whilst our natural instinct may be to hide away I believe that it’s more important than ever to be seen and to make our voices heard. @_laurencurrie_ has produced a series about professional visibility and it - together with the words of the women she has interviewed - has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and write on @linkedin today (link in bio). It's something that perhaps I wouldn't have done two weeks ago - but as we're seeing two weeks is a long time in the life of Covid19 and in the life of my small business.

There is no doubt that this virus is already changing our behaviour. I hope that perhaps these changes can be positive in some way and that they will now bring new unexpected projects and people into my world. If you'd like to chat then be in touch - we can use Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts or the phone - or we can even meet up for a cup of tea.

One of the things that I get asked a lot about events is why people should bother to organise them. Events create real places and spaces. They provide opportunities to connect and tell stories - and in today's world, when it's sometimes hard to find a minute to look up from multiple screens, that really matters.

If you're thinking about running an event I've put together five things to consider in the article knows in my bio.

We love London and love James Turrell and always literally get lost in the light. We recommend taking 10 minutes to just sit with the colour @pacegallery - it’s magic.

Looking for something to read this weekend. We recommend the 2020 Wingate Prize shortlist. It is always a pleasure to work on the Wingate Literary Prize. We are delighted to share the wonderful 2020 short list of great reads. Link in bio. This year’s judges Roopa Farooki, Philippe Sands, Kim Sherwood and CliveLawtonOBE have got their work cut out for them.
Thanks also to the brilliant team I work with and to @jw3london .
