Colt’s Super .38 Automatic, sporting ivory. Even with no work this one’s a laser beam.

Just in time for forty five friday- The USFA Rodeo

I’ve been wanting one of these since Revolver Fest last year, and finding this one almost makes up for not being able to go this year.

This is an early A series S/N and appears to have been fired but very very little. I’ll be fixing that soon enough.

Haven’t had the 29-3 out for a while.

It’s not just any Forty Five Friday, it’s by god patent day! 132 years ago today John Browning’s patent for an improvement in magazine firearms was approved. These improvements manifested themselves in what we know as Winchester’s Model of 1894 and would go on to become not only the most popular lever action rifle ever, but arguably the most popular rifle in the United States period until the sunset of the AWB in 2004.

Just shy of 17 years after this, Browning would be granted the patent for the 1911 and the original American power couple would be born.

Skeeter Skelton wrote in an article “Despite its small size, the cut-down Magnum looked like distilled dynamite with a three second fuse.”

I tend to agree.

A little Wheelgun Wednesday treat.

Local shop had this 2nd Model Hand Ejector 44 long enough to mark it down, and who am I to not help them rid themselves of it? She dates to 1926 and is clean as a whistle. My pal in the shop even noted that it doesn’t have any cartridge outlines on the recoil shield. I told him “that’ll change in a few hours. This guns vacation is over.”

First K frame of the year, Smith & Wesson Model 19-5.
I’m generally more into the handier 4” or very concealable 2.5” versions, but something about this one spoke to me. It shows signs of use but appears to have been well taken care of, and that trend will continue so long as it resides with me.
