Using basketball as a tool for education and development in Goma, DRC

POSTS STORIES REELS

We are honored to sponsor 20 children from @pjbacademy to participate in the Summer English Program at Congo Skills Academy. This opportunity allows them to strengthen their English skills, gain confidence, and continue growing both academically and personally.

We are thankful to everyone who supports our mission. Your encouragement and generosity help us create opportunities that positively impact the lives of children and our communities.

We invite others to join us in supporting our work and helping more young people access opportunities through education.

We wish all of the students a successful and inspiring summer of learning. Together, we are creating opportunities and building brighter futures, one child at a time. #youthempowerment #educationforall #basketball by @pjbacademy

At the recent @unesco UNESCO International Forum of NGOs, on the theme of ‘Advancing a Culture of Peace in Africa: From Roots to Resilience’, @mmm.makemothersmatter ’s UNESCO representative Elisa Valentin contributed to the session on Youth as Co-Architects of Peace and Stability.

Elisa presented the ‘Promo Jeunes Basket’ (PJB) @pjbacademy , a grassroots project, based in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.

This initiative aims to use sports to give young people the tools to build their future. Basketball becomes a tool to develop skills such as self confidence, leadership and teamwork.

Every year, around 1200 boys and girls from RDC, aged 3-24, take part in international tournaments with players from Rwanda and Burundi.

In a country where women and children have carried the weight of conflicts for decades, @mmm.makemothersmatter member En avant les enfants, @en.avant.les.enfants partners on the @pjbacademy project to help bring to the war torn region reconciliation, resilience and respect.

At @mmm.makemothersmatter we believe that lasting peace comes not only from institutions but also from the grassroots.
