When neurodivergent kids (especially those with autism, sensory processing differences, or developmental delays) seek pressure or friction on their private parts while lying on their tummy, it’s usually not sexual behavior in the adult sense — it’s almost always sensory-seeking or self-regulatory behavior. Here’s how it breaks down 👇---🔹 1. Deep Pressure Seeking (Proprioceptive Input)The pelvic area and inner thighs are rich in deep pressure receptors. It helps organize the nervous system, calm hyperarousal, or reduce anxiety.---🔹 2. Vestibular + Tactile InputProne (tummy-down) position activates core muscles and gives input through the pelvis and trunk. If the child is dysregulated, this can provide a grounding effect. The rubbing or rocking movement provides repetitive, rhythmic input — similar to rocking, spinning, or bouncing for self-regulation.---🔹 3. Body Awareness and ExplorationKids with poor interoception or body boundaries may not distinguish that this input involves a private area. They might simply be noticing “this feels calming” and repeat it, not understanding social boundaries.---🔹 4. Sometimes Related to Core Weakness or ReflexesIf there’s poor core strength, they may shift their weight forward onto the pelvis when prone. Some kids with unintegrated TLR (tonic labyrinthine reflex) or ATNR may also press the pelvic area down to stabilize or find sensory grounding.---🔹 5. Not Always a Sign of Sexualized BehaviorFor most neurodivergent kids, especially under ~8–10 years old, this is not masturbatory in intent. It’s important to observe context:When does it happen? (bored, anxious, tired?)What sensory needs might it be meeting? by @connectingdots2017

⭕ Looks like a simple game...But this activity is challenging:✅ Motor Planning (Praxis)✅ Body Awareness (Proprioception)✅ Spatial Awareness✅ Bilateral Coordination✅ Dynamic Balance✅ Sequencing Skills✅ Visual-Spatial ProcessingAs the child moves through each hoop, the brain must constantly calculate:👉 Where is my body in space?👉 How much should I bend?👉 Which movement comes next?👉 How do I avoid touching the hoops? These are the same foundational skills needed for: ✏️ Handwriting ⚽ Sports 🎒 School participation 🧩 Problem solvingParents, tell me👇Would your child fly through this challenge or get stuck halfway?...Save & Share..Follow @connectingdots2017 for more......................................#OccupationalTherapy #MotorPlanning #Praxis #ChildDevelopment #PediatricOT by @connectingdots2017

Benefits of slow controlled movements in children1. IMPROVED BODY AWARENESSChildren understand:• Where their body is• How their limbs move• How much force they needUseful for children who are:• Clumsy• Seeking movement constantly• Bumping into things2. BETTER COORDINATION Improves:• Bilateral coordination (both sides working together)• Hand-eye coordination• Gross motor skillsExamples:• Catching a ball• Dressing• Using scissors3. IMPROVED FINE MOTOR SKILLSControlled movement supports:• Pencil control• Handwriting• Buttoning• Manipulating small objects4. BETTER ATTENTION AND REGULATION Slow rhythmic movements can help children:• Calm their nervous system• Reduce impulsive responses• Increase focus during tasks5. IMPROVED BALANCE and POSTURAL CONTROL Activities like:• Slow walking on a line• Balance poses• Animal walkschallenge the brain to maintain stability.6. MOTOR SKILL ACCURACY Children learn quality before speed:• Correct movement patterns• Less unnecessary effort• More efficient actions7. CONFIDENCE and INDEPENDENCE When children can control their body better, they often become more confident in:• Play• Sports• School tasks• Daily activities.......Save & Share....Follow @connectingdots2017 for more ......................................#sensoryintegration #childdevelopmentcenter #occupationaltherapy #functionalneurology #auditoryprocessing... The brain doesn't learn movement. It learns through movement. 🧠✨This activity may look simple, but it requires the brain and body to work together in a highly coordinated way.As she removes the rubber bands from her feet, she's practicing:🔹 Bilateral coordination🔹 Motor planning🔹 Core activation🔹 Visual attention🔹 Proprioceptive awareness🔹 Crossing information between both sides of the body...When these foundations are strong, children often find everyday tasks easier—from sports and playground skills to dressing, writing, and classroom participation...💬 Could your child do this without losing balance or getting frustrated? Let me know below!.....Save & Share.Follow @connectingdots2017 for more.....................#OccupationalTherapy #PediatricOT #MotorPlanning #ChildDevelopment #BilateralCoordination by @connectingdots2017
