30 years ago today! Released on this day in 1996, «Legal Drug Money» marked the debut album from @lblostboyz and cemented the Queens quartet as one of the most distinctive voices of the mid 90s. Built on hard hitting production, memorable hooks and the unmistakable chemistry between Mr Cheeks, Freaky Tah, Spigg Nice and Pretty Lou, the album captured the energy of New York streets while remaining accessible enough for radio success.Production duties were handled primarily by Mr Sexxx, with strong contributions from Easy Mo Bee, Pete Rock, Tim Dawg and Dwarf The Black Prince. The result was an album packed with timeless cuts like «Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz», «Renee» and «Music Makes Me High», records that still resonate with hip hop heads decades later.What makes «Legal Drug Money» special is its balance. Street records sit comfortably alongside smoother, more melodic moments, creating an album that showcases the full range of the group’s sound.
