The summer garden is just about done but the Fall preserving work has just begun. I’ll roast all of those colorful tomatoes and can marinara and sauce, ferment the peppers for hot sauce and finally make jams and jellies with the fruits. The weather is cool and I’m ready to begin! I’m so thankful for our little farm! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #foodstorage #smallfarm by @plantpreserveplate

I call this the chicken tomato. It’s one plant that volunteered outside the chicken coop. It’s been spreading all summer and had lots of tomatoes on it and no worms or disease. Sometimes volunteers surprise us. I’m definitely saving these seeds! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #tomatoplant #smallfarm by @plantpreserveplate

My fall eggplants will be breaded, baked and frozen for future eggplant Parmesan. It’s a great way to preserve a large amount now and it will be a huge time saver for a quick dinner later. I have two large stuffed gallon bags in the freezer! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #foodstorage #eggplantparm by @plantpreserveplate

The last of the garden sweet peppers are going in the freezer. These will be used later for canning recipes and daily cooking. I love all the beautiful colors! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #foodstorage #canningandpreserving by @plantpreserveplate

Yesterday was a canning marathon and now we’ve got food on the shelf that will feed us for months to come. Creamy taco soup and burrito in a jar will be quick dinners and canned organic pinto and garbanzo beans will be a great start for many sides and dips. #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #foodstorage #canningandpreserving #canningseason by @plantpreserveplate

The Prime Ark Freedom thornless blackberries are putting on their Fall crop and the berries are huge and sweet! Not sure any of them will make it into jam. They’re so tasty! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #gardenharvest #foodstorage by @plantpreserveplate

Just when I’m feeling sad that the tomatoes are almost done, the peppers decide to shine! So many beautiful colors and tastes! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #gardenharvest #smallfarm by @plantpreserveplate

This guy decided to do his first wobbly crow today! I’m like a proud mama! #plantpreserveplate #smallfarm .#chickensofig #farmlifebestlife #backyardchickensofinstagram by @plantpreserveplate

These peppers might be small but they have big flavor! The yellow biquinhos will be pickled for charcuterie platters, the tiny red thai chilis will be frozen whole to add to future dishes and the cayenne peppers will be dried to be ground into cayenne powder. Don’t let the small size fool you! #plantpreserveplate #gardentotable #harvesttime #gardenharvest #canningandpreserving by @plantpreserveplate

These nubbly melons are delicious. They are very fragrant and juicy. I’m so excited they are ripe! #plantpreserveplate #gardenharvest #gardentotable #harvesttime #frommygarden by @plantpreserveplate
