Raw rig on top. Final render on the bottom. Same shot.

This breakdown of SpongeBob Go Fetch shows the full journey. Top half is the raw 3D workspace with rigs, controllers and wireframes. Bottom half is the finished render. SpongeBob throws a ball for Gary, an anglerfish monster crashes the game of fetch, and the two get launched onto a skull covered rock.

The rig work here is unreal. Every controller and wireframe you see up top is what makes the final performance feel alive down below. Shot animated by @plem73, directed by @adampaloian, animation director @olovburman, rigging by @kippcase.rigging, from @pinreelinc for Nickelodeon.

📌 Save this for your rigging and breakdown reference.

Ever wonder what's actually inside the UFO? 🛸

Glass dome, blinking antenna, a hatch that opens with a ramp, thrusters underneath and built like it actually has to fly, not just look cool for 3 seconds on screen.

Started as a scribble on a napkin. Swipe to see it fully specced out.

This spaceship started as a napkin sketch. 🛸

(the camera trick behind this shot is a whole story on its own, check LinkedIn if you're curious how it's done)

It's not a birthday party without the whole neighborhood showing up.

Meet Franklin's crew! Six kids, six very different vibes, all crammed into one living room for cake and chaos. Swipe through to meet them one by one.

Meet the family. Literally.

Dad's design comes straight from Franklin's. Grampa's design comes straight from Dad's, aged forward. Same face, three generations, a family tree running in reverse. 👴

And yes, those are Dutch clogs on Grampa. I'm from the Netherlands, had to sneak it in somewhere. 🇳🇱

Swipe through the family. Full film link in bio.

In 2004, I wrote a 1-minute story about a kid who turns six and suddenly has the greatest story ever told and nobody has time to listen.

I never explained where the story came from. I just didn't have that answer yet.

20+ years later, I finally do: a joyriding UFO drops him home with it. 👽

Swipe to see where Franklin started and where he ended up.

🚨SOLD OUT! 🎮 DUTCH GAME WEEK: MASTERCLASS CREATURE ANIMATION BY PEER LEMMERS 🎮

Discover how animation changes between cinematic storytelling and interactive gameplay in this immersive, hands-on workshop. You’ll learn how to bring creatures to life across both film and game pipelines, from expressive cinematic performances to snappy, responsive gameplay actions.

🎮 WHAT TO EXPECT?
Explore the anatomy of a shot, the mechanics of movement, and the art of creating believable character and emotion. We’ll break down quadruped and bipedal locomotion, study creature behavior and performance, and design a gameplay attack animation that feels dynamic and readable.

By the end, you’ll have started two short pieces: one cinematic, one gameplay-focused, and a deeper understanding of how to adapt timing, posing, and storytelling across mediums.

🎮 FOR WHO?
Perfect for animation students and junior professionals ready to level up their craft and master the art of creature animation for both film and games. No prior experience is required, though basic entry-level skills are helpful. You’ll also be asked to plan and sketch out their animations on paper or digitally (e.g., in Notepad).
