Boozy Bard is what happens when Shakespeare stops taking himself so damn seriously and starts behaving like your drunk uncle.

The cast — led by @pmh921, @tcheatemstudios , and @ryryguyguy95 and the talented narrator — tackles The Tempest after downing enough liquid courage to make forgotten lines, improvised saves, and total derailments part of the fun.

And somehow all of that makes Shakespeare feel more alive than a lot of polished productions ever manage to.

I was grinning from the second I walked through Schlafly’s doors until the final bows. You can feel how much these performers love being up there. Underneath the drinking and disorder is a genuinely talented cast keeping the whole thing barely afloat. It turns The Tempest into this weird little tavern fever dream where the audience becomes part of the storm too.

Come for the bawdy humor and the drinks. Stay because watching actors desperately wrestle Shakespeare back under control after things go sideways is deeply entertaining.

Boozy Bard runs tonight and Friday at @schlaflytaproom — and this absolutely deserves to be experienced before you see The Tempest hit the @stlshakesfest main stage.
