Allumuah (2020) by Curtis Essel @curtis.essel
Allumuah (meaning “leader” in Nzima) reflects on the connective space between Africans on the continent and in the diaspora, exploring memory, heritage, and belonging across geography. Honouring Essel’s late grandmother, who was revered in her community as an oral storyteller and leader, the award-winning film weaves together spoken parables, multiple African languages, and rich visual references into a love letter to Africans around the globe, inviting audiences to reflect on collective identity and a shared future.

Support Acts:

@naimanzr

Naima Nazir is a poet and artist working across words, sound, film and image. Her work explores identity and belonging at the intersection of the individual and the collective, drawing on family histories and memory to reflect on how we live with and within society.

Day Eve Komet is infinite space caressing temporality through tender strokes of destruction, delight, and deliberateness. As a many-spirited, shapeshifting, time-travelling trickster, they are committed to birthing new worlds, new imaginings, and new ways of becoming that exude beauty, love, and jazz.As a poet, facilitator, and performer, they birth worlds devoted to the generous and glorious futures they believe are possible in our burning times. Through improvisation, intergalactic technologies, and loving presence, they invite you to surrender to the unknown.

@khadimndome is an Italo-Senegalese vibraphonist and percussionist based in Berlin.
Rooted in West African percussion traditions, he has developed a distinctive musical language shaped by classical music, jazz, and improvisation. Active as a vibraphonist, timpanist, and percussionist, he performs with jazz ensembles, contemporary music projects, and classical orchestras. As a composer and bandleader, he leads Afro-jazz projects including Jaliya, exploring the meeting point of tradition and innovation through music that wants to look into the future
