We’re excited to invite you to Kohkom’s Babushka, a new family-friendly production running this October at Banff Centre. Presented by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Punctuate! Theatre, and Pyretic Productions, and generously funded by The Slaight Family Foundation, this is one of two must-see shows taking place next month. In this time-travelling tale, feuding tweens Paulette (Métis) and Natalia (Ukrainian) must join forces to save a tree—only to find themselves transported to the early 1900s. As they navigate the past, they begin to uncover shared traditions, forge new bonds, and build an unexpected friendship. Artist in Residence Kasia Sosnowski @bad.bucket has been busy in the Casa studios for the past couple weeks! Join Sosnowski for our upcoming programs, they’re all free to attend! Read below for details. Art/Work PD session: Inside Artist Residencies Wednesday, March 18 | 6:30PM Meeting Room, Casa Artist Talk Thursday, March 19 | 7PM Meeting Room, Casa Open House (along with our exhibition openings) Saturday, March 28 | 7-9PM Clay Studio, Casa Artist Bio: Kasia Sosnowski (she/her) graduated with a combined BFA in Art History & Museum Studies and Art Studio from the University of Lethbridge in 2014. She has worked at the Banff Centre, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, and Medalta International Artist in Residence in preparatory/gallery installation, artist administration, programming, and community building roles. Arete Quartet has won Second Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition Here, they perform Britten’s Three Divertimenti for String Quartet Comprising violinists Chae-Ann Jeon and Eunjoong Park, violist Yoon-sun Jang, and cellist Seong-hyeon Park, Arete will receive a $12,000 CAD cash prize and a creative residency at Banff Centre, including coaching and mentorship opportunities All rounds of the competition are available to watch on The Violin Channel, link in bio! @aretequartet @banffcentre

¡Seguimos conmemorando los 200 años de nuestras relaciones bilaterales🇨🇱🇺🇸! 🎹Les presentamos a Gustavo Miranda @gustavomirandapianist, destacado pianista chileno quien a los 16 años se fue a Nueva York para estudiar en la prestigiosa Juilliard School of Music. 🎶En Juilliard School of Music obtuvo el grado de Bachiller y Máster en Música bajo la dirección de los profesores Robert McDonald y Julian Martin. Este último lo describió “como el mejor estudiante de una muy buena generación de la escuela”. 🙌Además, en Estados Unidos, Gustavo ha dado recitales como solista en Banff Centre, Tanglewod; Bard College Conservatory of Music; New York ‘s Steinway Hall; y First International Piano Festival en Texas.
