With foster care the goal is always reunification to family. This was supposed to be a “two week placement”. The day we took him, my husband wasn’t even in town 😂 So meeting our kids has always looked different. We never had 9 months to prepare. We never had a shower to help us get started. We have adopted 3 kids from foster care and each with wildly different stories! I was told by the the shelter he initially came In as a stray with an AirTag duct-taped to his collar, but nobody ever came looking for him after two months. He then got adopted on January 19, but today we found him strolling into Home Depot, alone. Sweet boy can't catch a break 💔 #foster #shelter #rescue #adopt

Multiple missed visits this month. Heartbreaking! We’re praying hard for this mama and her family. That they would get to opportunity to reunify if she does all that she needs to. When she shows up to visits she’s engaged and attentive, but getting her to show up for her baby and work her plan is the hard part. And caught in the middle is a precious baby who doesn’t know if she’ll get to see her mom this week or not. #thisisfostercare #foster #fostercare #fosterlove #fyp

This boy could really use some donations towards his healing journey. He needs lots of supplements, antibiotics for his URI, groceries, fish oil, bloodwork, and all other regular medical care. We walked away believing someone else would find you. Someone else would see what we saw. Someone will adopt him soon, we said. Four months later, in October, we found out you were scheduled to be euthanized for space. We were over 1200 miles away and had five minutes to save your life. Because of a last minute phone call, a desperate plan, and by some miracle, a shelter volunteer picked up the phone after the shelter closing, you lived because someone answered. Your brother didn’t. That loss will always stay with us, the quiet promise we carry to honor you both. We fostered you intending to find you a family. But love has a way of deciding before you do. Our mom fell in love with you in that deep, irreversible way, the kind of love that doesn’t need explaining. The kind where one day you realize you cannot picture your future without them standing in it. Sometimes we look at you and think about the life that almost wasn’t, and we will spend the rest of your life making sure it is soft, and safe, and so full of love that those four months feel small in comparison. Do you think a dog that’s about to give birth in a week should be spayed? This sweet girl, Almond, is scheduled to be spayed by a shelter. We’ve been working diligently over the last couple of days to find an experienced foster who can take her in, give her a safe space, and save the lives of these puppies who are so close to being born. But finding a foster is just the first step toward a safe future for them. Once the puppies arrive, this will be an expensive case with medical care, supplies, and ongoing support.
