Big news, everyone! After 20 years of baking artisan bread on Vancouver Island, weโ€™re incredibly proud to announce that Portofino Bakery has officially become a @bcorpuscan Certified Business. ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒŽ ๐ŸŒฟWeโ€™re taking significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our environment. For example, we source 100% of our flour from local mills right here in beautiful British Columbia. By supporting our local community, weโ€™re not only baking with the best ingredients but also making a positive impact on our planet. ๐Ÿ’ช Our recent switch from bagged flour to a bulk flour program has already saved over 150,000 empty flour bags from being wasted in landfills. ๐Ÿ™Œ Our dedication to making a meaningful impact extends to our communities. Through our fresh bread donations, weโ€™re actively supporting local organizations such as the Campbell River Food Bank, @victoriabulldogsociety, @loavesandfishesfoodbank, Goldstream Food Bank, and @backpackbuddiesbc. ๐Ÿ’š Our amazing staff members are the true stars of our success story. Thatโ€™s why we go above and beyond industry standards by offering wages above the average. Our hourly team members receive automatic raises and bonuses each year, and weโ€™ve created comprehensive wellness and leadership development programs to empower our entire team across Portofino. Being a B Corp isnโ€™t just a milestone for usโ€”itโ€™s a continuous journey towards reducing our carbon footprint, making a positive impact on our communities, and creating an even better work environment for our incredible staff. We started on this journey because we firmly believe that businesses can and should be a Force For Good in this world, and we want you to be part of it too! We want to thank you for your incredible support and invite you to join us on our mission here at Portofino as we work together to create a positive impact on the planet while making some real. good. bread. along the way. ๐Ÿž #PortofinoBakery #BCorpCertified #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #BetterBusiness #ForceForGood by @portofinobakery
