The Reformer may be having its moment, but Classical Pilates has always been about the complete system.

Mat work develops the strength, control, and precision that carry across the apparatus. Understanding the Method means understanding how each part works together, not just mastering one piece of equipment.

The Mat is not separate from the work. It is fundamental to it.

Do you think the Mat gets overlooked in today’s Pilates landscape?

What people think of as Pilates has changed.

Today, the word can describe everything from Reformer-based fitness classes and strength circuits to mobility workouts and Pilates-inspired movement. But the Classical Pilates Method is more than a style of workout. It is a complete, interconnected system of exercises.

Joseph Pilates developed the Method with a specific order, progression, and purpose. Each exercise builds on the work that came before it, preparing the body for what comes next. The transitions, the sequence, and the relationship between exercises are all part of the work.

When exercises are taken out of that system and used individually, they may still offer physical benefits, but they are no longer necessarily being practiced as Joseph Pilates intended.

As Pilates continues to evolve, understanding the distinction between Pilates-inspired fitness and the Classical Method matters. The Method is not simply a collection of exercises. It is the system that connects them.

Congratulations to newly certified Power Pilates instructor, Nicole Radosti, who has completed our 600-hour Comprehensive Certification Program! 🎉

Based in the West Village of New York City, Nicole discovered Pilates while working in tech and looking for ways to address the effects of sitting at a desk, particularly on her lower back and posture. She quickly developed an appreciation for the intentionality behind each exercise and became interested in understanding not only how the Method works, but why.

Teaching Pilates was not always the goal, but Nicole fell in love with the learning process and the opportunity to do something more hands-on and active alongside her work in tech. Her energetic and curious approach carries into her teaching, where she hopes to motivate clients while helping them better understand the purpose behind their movements.

One of the most challenging parts of her Comprehensive journey was finding the time and motivation to stay on track with the hours required. The flexibility of the program allowed her to balance her training with her schedule, while connecting with fellow apprentices provided the accountability, community, and friendships that helped her keep going.

Nicole was especially drawn to Power Pilates for its flexibility and its intentional approach to Classical Pilates education, including an emphasis on progressions and understanding the reasoning behind each stage of a client’s development. Throughout her training, Pilates has also given her a greater awareness of her own body and the habits that affect how she moves every day.

As she begins this next chapter, Nicole is excited to connect with more people, continue deepening her understanding of the Method, and show that Pilates can be accessible to anyone, regardless of their experience level.

Please join us in congratulating Nicole on this incredible achievement and welcoming her into the Power Pilates global community!

Congratulations to newly certified Power Pilates instructor Chelsea Davis, who has completed our 600-hour Comprehensive Certification Program! 🎉

Originally from Westchester, New York, Chelsea is a lifelong lover of movement, former dancer, reader, animal lover, coffee enthusiast, and proud owner of multiple pets back in Westchester including three pet chickens. Her Pilates journey began when she tried a Reformer class with a friend. Initially intimidated by Pilates, she quickly fell in love with the combination of a challenging workout and the sense of relaxation it brought her.

As she became more consistent with Pilates, Chelsea noticed its impact on her strength, posture, and overall quality of life. Her own experience with injury would later shape the way she teaches. Having experienced the physical and mental challenges of stepping away from movement and returning before feeling like herself again, Chelsea understands that every client enters a studio with a different history, body, and starting point.

That perspective has become central to her teaching philosophy: helping each person become 1% better each day.

One of the most challenging parts of the Comprehensive program was learning patience through her own injury and recovery. Progressing through the Method from beginner to intermediate to advanced gave Chelsea a deeper understanding of what clients experience as they develop their practice and reinforced that meaningful progress takes time.

Chelsea was especially drawn to Power Pilates’ commitment to the Classical Pilates Method and its structured system of progression. She also found a strong sense of community throughout the program, building friendships that became an important part of her experience.

Now, Chelsea is excited to continue making movement a meaningful part of her life while sharing what she has learned with her clients.

Please join us in congratulating Chelsea Davis on this incredible achievement and welcoming her into the Power Pilates global community!
