Our Diversity & Communication class recently welcomed award-winning investigative journalist Maria Parazo Rose, whose work explores how land rights and climate change affect tribal communities, sovereignty, and jurisdiction. During the virtual presentation, Maria discussed her reporting on how many land-grant universities have financially benefited from lands taken from Indigenous communities, as well as the limited media coverage of this issue. She also shared insights from her other reporting projects focused on tribal and Indigenous communities. We thank Maria for sharing her experiences and insights with our students and helping them better understand these important issues! by @ppuschoolofcomm

Broadcast Reporting and Multimedia major Robert Fornataro ’26 is making the most of every opportunity at Point Park. From @uviewtelevision and @WPPJ to multiple internships and being involved in @pointparkhso, he’s gained hands-on experience from day one. Outside of internships, he’s job shadowed with @cbspittsburgh’s very own @maryours ‘12! His biggest tip: say yes and get involved early. “Many larger universities require their students to wait until their third or fourth year before they can get involved. Here, you can get involved on your first day, which really allows you the ability to train and practice skills you plan to use in the workplace.” Check out the link in bio for his full Point Park POV! 👏 by @ppuschoolofcomm
