HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALUCHUKWU !!

Today , I celebrate not just another year of my life, but the strength, growth and courage it took me to get here.
Another year older, stronger and endless opportunities and possibilities.
Thank you lord for the gift of life.

May this year be softer, I pray for peace in my heart, happiness that feels genuine, success beyond my expectations and the courage to always choose myself when I need to always.

I’m proud of you Daluchukwu and so ready for what this new chapter has in store for me 🥹🤍..

I just feel like sharing what’s on my mind today .
CHILDHOOD TRAUMA MASKED AS AN UPBRINGING;We are honestly not ready to have the conversation about some African homes and the kind of trauma some parents have made their children live with.

The saddest part is that some people are carrying wounds they don’t even know are wounds. They call it “normal upbringing.” They say, “That’s just how our parents were.” They don’t realize that some of the things they experienced as children are still affecting the way they love, communicate, trust, react, and even see themselves today. Some people still Dey with low self esteem, inferiority complex and so many other things that tamper with our confidence till today all in the name of “UPBRINGING”.

Some of us were taught to survive, not to feel.
We were taught to be quiet, not to express ourselves.
We were taught fear and called it respect.

And because some went through it, we feel is ok to normalized it.

There are so many childhood traumas hiding behind “African parenting,” and I honestly don’t think we are ready for that conversation. #AfricanParents #AfricanHomes #family #NigerianHomes #AfricanParenting ChildhoodTrauma by @precious.nessa.94
