🎄 St. Peter's Square Vatican Nativity Scene 2023 inspired by the first nativity scene created by Saint Francis in 1223 in Greccio. The statues were created by the Cantone & Costabile nativity art workshop of Naples, which is present for the 3rd time in the history of nativity scenes displayed in St. Peter's Square. In fact, in 2013 and 2017 they created 2 monumental nativity scenes with figures 2.20 meters high in 18th century Neapolitan style. This year Cantone & Costabile took on the difficult challenge of creating characters placed in a thirteenth-century context using the technique of the eighteenth-century Neapolitan shepherd, respecting the physiognomy and typical costumes of the time. With these images we want to share these special moments with you, hoping to excite you just as we were excited in working for 9 months on this nativity scene so dear and desired by the Holy Father🙏
