The power of a praying couple lies in their ability to come together in prayer, seeking guidance, strength, and blessings from a higher power. By joining their faith and intentions, a praying couple can experience a deeper connection, support each other spiritually, and invite divine intervention into their relationship and lives. Prayer can foster unity, trust, and a sense of purpose, allowing the couple to navigate challenges, grow together, and experience the transformative power of their shared faith.

As a pastor, doula, and chaplain, I stand in holy spaces where heaven feels close and miracles breathe. I have been present in delivery rooms and quiet moments of prayer, watching life unfold through the strength of women. God chose women as vessels of creation, carrying purpose, promise, and destiny within them. Scripture reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I have seen this truth lived out as women bring forth some of the greatest gifts the world will ever know. To witness birth is to witness faith in motion. To serve in these moments is a sacred calling. I leave each encounter humbled by the power of God and the divine strength placed within women.

Here’s the translation from Haitian Creole to English:

Dear Future Wife,

This morning, I wanted to give you something sweeter than a kiss. So I made you Haitian spaghetti with turkey sausage, seasoned with love and just enough spice to remind you of me.

I placed two eggs on top, tender boiled plantains on the side with a little sauce, and a beautiful bowl of fresh strawberries and blueberries.

But baby, the sweetest thing on this table isn’t the fruit. It’s the thought of you sitting across from me, wearing that beautiful smile, while I watch you enjoy every bite.

Because when I love a woman, I don’t just feed her stomach. I feed her heart, too.

God,

A 15-year-old boy left home to go to school, but he will never return. Lord, I cannot imagine the heartbreak of a father who must now bury the child he was supposed to watch grow into a man.

Father, wrap Your loving arms around this grieving family. When the tears become unbearable, be their comfort. When anger overwhelms their hearts, be their peace. When they question why, remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted.

Lord, we pray for justice, but we also pray for our children. Somewhere along the way, too many young hearts have learned hatred before compassion, violence before forgiveness, and cruelty before kindness. Father, heal this generation. Teach our children that another person’s life is sacred and that bullying is never harmless.

God, protect every child walking to school this morning. Protect the ones suffering silently, the ones afraid to speak up, and the ones who feel they have nowhere to turn.

No parent should have to identify their child’s body when they were expecting to hear about their school day.

Father, let this young man’s death awaken compassion, accountability, and change. May his family find strength in You, may the truth come to light, and may his life never be forgotten.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen. 🙏🏽💔

If you believe every child deserves to make it home safely, please join me in praying for this family. by @professorphanor

I’ve attended many meetings throughout my academic and professional journey, but something happened recently that genuinely touched my heart.

I arrived for a meeting with fellow academics, and as I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed someone standing there holding a sign with my name on it. Yes, an actual handwritten sign that read, “Dr. H. E. Phanor,” almost as if I were some VIP being picked up by a limousine driver. 😂

At first, I laughed. But when I realized they had intentionally done this as a gesture of appreciation and respect, I was nearly moved to tears. I had to compose myself because I genuinely didn’t want to cry in front of them. It wasn’t about the title, the degrees, or the recognition. It was the thoughtfulness behind such a simple gesture. These were accomplished individuals who took a moment to make another person feel valued, welcomed, and appreciated.

And perhaps that’s what touched me most. I’ve spent so much of my life pouring into others, encouraging people, celebrating their accomplishments, and reminding them of their worth. Sometimes, when you’re accustomed to being the one who gives, you forget what it feels like to be on the receiving end of that same kindness.

That little orange piece of paper reminded me of something profound: You can spend years building a name, but there’s something incredibly humbling about encountering people who make you feel that the person behind the name matters even more.

I drove away thinking about that moment, and I couldn’t help but thank God. Not for the recognition, but for the reminder that kindness still exists in the most unexpected places.

One day, the world may forget your titles, your degrees, and even your accomplishments. But the way you made someone feel when they entered your presence can remain with them for a lifetime.

And today, I was the one who got to experience that.

They thought they were simply holding a sign with my name on it. Little did they know, they were holding up a mirror that reminded me I was seen, respected, and appreciated.

And sometimes, even the person who spends his life reminding others of their worth needs someone to remind him of hi by @professorphanor

Now tell me, do you like your plantains soft and sweet or with those crispy, caramelized edges?

Dear Future Wife, you said you were craving Popeyes, so I gave you something better.

Homemade fried chicken, kale and spinach, macaroni au gratin, buttery biscuits, and a strawberry pineapple drink.

Baby, when you’re mine, even your cravings will be loved on.

Driving through Houston, Texas… windows down, shades on, beard behaving, and minding my business. 😎😂

But Houston traffic has me wondering… is everybody late to the same place, or do y’all just drive like this for fun? 🤣🚗💨
