NEW ATHLETE Hi, I’m Sophie, a 16-year-old from Wellington.
I’ve been riding bikes for as long as I can remember, growing up watching my dad ride and race. It wasn’t long before I fell in love with riding and racing myself.
After getting the opportunity to race at CX Worlds earlier this year, I’m super stoked to be heading back to Belgium this December and January, this time for a longer stay to experience more of the European cyclocross season. I’m really looking forward to getting in plenty of racing and learning from some of the best riders in the world, before finishing off with the UCI Cyclocross World Championships at the end of January. After CX Worlds, my focus will shift back to mountain biking, with the goal of earning selection to represent New Zealand at the UCI MTB World Championships in the U19 category. This has been a goal of mine for a long time and is something that motivates me to keep working hard and pushing myself.

I’m super excited and grateful to be joining the team, especially alongside riders I’ve looked up to for a long time. I’m looking forward making the most of every opportunity and, of course, having heaps of fun along the way. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead!.

@whaka100_official Miler ✅

Well now I can say I have officially completed the Miler and couldn’t have asked a better day out on the bike the track we’re running amazing thanks to the whaka team.

Definitely can say I bonded with my bike over the 9:42 hours and can say the @specialized_nz Epic 9 did not disappoint, eating up all the bumps along the way. Thanks to @cycletimehamilton for getting my bike in the best condition 🤝.

Want to say a massive congratulations to everyone who participated in the @whaka100_official this year was another great atmosphere once again and can’t wait for next year.

Lastly want to say a massive thank you to Jason and Russell for being at all the pits for me and having everything dialled cheers teams.

@whaka100_official providing.
Another tough 100km which hasn’t seemed to get any easier the more I do it, but always gets more fun!! Happy to get 4th in elite women and to only be 28 seconds behind 3rd. The first 50km had me 🪫 but managed to recharge 🔋 for the last 50km thankfully.

Also happy to have gotten the fastest women’s time down grinder, although it was a struggle trying to hold on and not cramp🫠

Was a good day ripping round the forest and managed to get 5th in the U23 category despite having a sore stomach and throwing up in the last half of the race.

Catching up with @giantbikesnz Miler leader @fletcher_adams_mtb at the 120km mark by @proformance_racing

Still seeing double, this time at the top of the podium. 🥇🥈

We called them podium contenders this morning, and the Nasmith sisters went and took the top two spots. 👏

@astyn_nasmith and @kaylan_nasmith both delivered on their sub-three-hour goals in the @rotoruacanopytours Whaka50. We caught up with them for the debrief. 🎤 by @proformance_racing

Seeing double on course?

That’ll be @astyn_nasmith and @kaylan_nasmith from @proformance_racing taking on the Whaka50.

Sub3 goals make them @rotoruacanopytours podium contenders today 👀 by @proformance_racing

It was such a great time up in Tauranga for school MTB nationals.
Really happy to have gotten 🥈🥈in the XCC & XC with a close race between @astyn_nasmith & @kaylan_nasmith in both.
Had a good time in the DH and enduro aswell.
Thanks again to everyone that made this possible.
