POSTS STORIES REELS

Even if we do not always see them, every element of the landscape plays an essential role.

Birds, beneficial insects, cover crops, and local wildlife form a living network that fosters the balance and vitality of our vineyards.

At Protos, we view viticulture as a relationship of respect for the environment. Protecting biodiversity means preserving the origin and securing the future of each vineyard.

Today, we celebrate Spain from the place where Protos began.

From Peñafiel, we raise a glass to a land of diverse landscapes, shared traditions and a wine culture shaped over generations.

A story we continue to express through every wine, with respect for its origins and a contemporary vision.

At Protos, architecture also speaks of our origins.

At the foot of Peñafiel Castle, our winery offers a contemporary interpretation of Ribera del Duero’s winemaking tradition. Its five ceramic vaults echo the rooftops of the town, while much of the winery lies beneath the ground, making use of its natural conditions for winemaking and ageing.

Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners together with Alonso Balaguer y Arquitectos Asociados, it is a place where tradition, landscape and architecture exist in harmony.

Today, we celebrate World Architecture Day from one of the places that best represents the identity of Protos.

After the harvest, the vineyard settles into a different rhythm. The days grow shorter, the landscape takes on warm hues, and the land begins a new cycle.

At Protos, each season leaves its mark, reminding us that great wines are also born from knowing how to wait.

At Protos, producing organic wines is not a response to a trend, but a long-term commitment.

From transitioning our vineyards to organic farming to using water and energy more responsibly, every decision reflects our respect for the land and our determination to preserve it for future generations.

Because crafting great wines also means caring for the place where it all begins.

September marks one of the most significant moments in the wine calendar: the beginning of the grape harvest.

After a year of patience, care, and dedication in the vineyard, the grapes are ready, and a new vintage begins to take shape.

An age old tradition that brings together the land, those who work it, and the promise of the wine yet to come.

In Rueda, Protos Verdejo begins in carefully selected vineyards, where the grapes are harvested at night to preserve their freshness and aromatic character. In the winery, time and careful attention allow the wine to develop balance, texture and elegance.

A process guided by precision, from the vineyard to the glass.

At Protos, we work to optimize water usage across our processes, implementing measures that improve efficiency and reduce our environmental impact.🍃
Sustainability is also reflected in small, everyday actions: in how we produce, how we manage our resources, and how we envision the future of wine.
Because making great wines also means taking care of what matters most.🍇

In Ribera del Duero, our care begins long before harvest. Starting in August, we carefully select clusters and attend to every detail through thinning and green pruning, helping ensure uniformity, vineyard health and optimal ripening. We also monitor phenolic maturity by tasting the grape skins and seeds.

Here, red varieties are harvested later, between late September and October, with each plot selected according to altitude, exposure and sanitary conditions.

Because in every harvest, excellence comes first. 🍇

🍇 by @protoswines
