⭐ Coming later this year: The Burlington Liberation Center!

Please consider donating to help make this space possible! bit.ly/BTVLiberation

The Burlington Liberation Center is a community space and organizing hub run by and for Burlington’s working and oppressed. As a hub for education and organizing, we seek to bring people together to struggle around critical issues facing our class in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and schools. Together, we believe we can build power from the bottom up to fight for a society that meets the needs of the people and the planet.

The Burlington Liberation Center, staffed by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, stands firm in our commitment to building socialism. All activity that happens at the BLC will have the primary goal of building independent working class political power.

When the BLC opens later this year, you can expect organizing and volunteer meetings, political education, art and cultural programming, and more! by @pslvermont

No kings AND no billionaires. We need a whole new system!

A system that prioritizes the needs of the many, not the profits of a few. That system is called socialism.

Burlington Forward will not solve the problems Burlington faces. Adding police, jailing the unhoused, and reducing services will not solve the crisis, it will only criminalize the victims of the ongoing housing crisis and increase the level of state surveillance over all of us. In addition to targeting the homeless, ambiguous language around public use of space could be used to target protestors, and expanding security camera coverage risks being integrated with ICE’s increasing surveillance and ongoing attack on immigrants.

The actual issue is that under capitalism, housing is seen as a commodity, not as a human right. The only solution to this crisis is socialism, a system under which homelessness will be solved by providing homes, not terrorized and used as a pretext for increasing surveillance.

Fight for housing as a human right! Fight for socialism! by @pslvermont

That it’s impossible to afford a decent apartment on normal hours and minimum wage pay in this country is no secret to working people, but a new report has revealed just how unattainable the “American dream” is to the vast majority of us.

Here in Vermont, where our minimum wage is nearly double that of the federal minimum, someone making minimum wage has to work 90 hours a week to afford a 2-bedroom apartment.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can build a new system that serves the needs of working people, not the billionaire landlords who treat housing like it’s a source of profit and not a home for a family.

That system is socialism. Join the PSL today at pslweb.org/join or check out the PSL Action Network to find out how you can get involved and support the fight for a socialist future! by @pslvermont

✊ Last week, Vermont SHUT DOWN ICE!

All week, hundreds of community members joined protests, meetings, sit-ins, vigils, and more. On Monday, @project_abolition led a car caravan outside the Women’s Prison in South Burlington. On Wednesday, community members protested three years of Israel and the US’s genocide in Palestine outside of ICE’s Surveillance Center in Williston. On Friday, we marked the end of the week of action by blocking the street in front of ICE’s Snitch Center with a Block Party!

Thanks to our efforts, ICE’s office at 188 Harvest Lane was CLOSED all week! ICE and the whole Trump administration are SCARED of a mass movement. This week may be over, but the people have the power to SHUT ICE DOWN!

#abolishice by @pslvermont

On the final day of the week of action, we’re taking the street of the snitch center to make art, where you can hear about what went down during the week of action and hear from initiatives to shut down ICE beyond the week!
