😮 Shocking Hidden Facts – Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
1️⃣ It Took 6 Years to Build
Construction started in 2001 and finished in 2007, involving artisans from India, Iran, Italy, and Oman.
2️⃣ World’s Largest Handmade Carpet (For Years)
The main prayer hall has a single-piece Persian carpet, hand-woven by 600+ Iranian women.
🧶 Took 4 years to complete
⚖️ Weighs around 20+ tons
3️⃣ That Chandelier Is INSANE
The main chandelier:
Made with hundreds of thousands of Swarovski crystals
About 14 meters tall
Was once among the largest chandeliers in the world
Most people don’t realize it’s custom-designed only for this mosque.
4️⃣ 5 Minarets = 5 Pillars of Islam
Not random design.
Each minaret symbolizes one pillar of Islam — subtle, intentional, powerful.
5️⃣ Can Hold a Small City
The mosque can accommodate 20,000+ worshippers at once during major prayers — indoors + courtyard combined.
6️⃣ Open to NON-Muslims (Rare!)
Unlike many grand mosques, non-Muslims are allowed inside, making it one of the most welcoming Islamic landmarks in the world.
7️⃣ No Gold Show-Off — Still Feels Royal
Despite the grandeur:
Very limited use of gold
Focus on marble, symmetry, light, and proportion That’s why it feels peaceful, not flashy.
8️⃣ The Qibla Wall Has Hidden Meaning
The wall facing Mecca is carved with verses from the Quran in multiple calligraphy styles, representing unity within diversity in Islam.

Exploring my own city like a tourist. 📸

A walk through the chaotic, colourful and wonderfully unpredictable lanes of Chor Bazaar — old things, curious finds, busy streets and little stories hiding in every corner.

Sometimes you don't need a new destination. You just need to look at a familiar city differently.

And of course, a few frames of the tourist himself. 😄

📸 Big thanks to @aspiring4dbest for capturing my portraits while I was busy exploring.

Not everyone finds peace in crowds.

Some of us find it in quiet cafés, slow walks, and conversations with ourselves.

I've stopped apologizing for being that person.

There was a time I thought I had to keep up.

Go where everyone went.
Do what everyone did.

Then I realized...

The life I wanted was much quieter.

And I've never felt more like myself.

Sun on my skin. Salt in the air. Nothing else mattered.

Shoutout to @aspiring4dbest for these amazing shots.

Every street has a story.

Some are told through conversations. Some through silence. And some are simply waiting to be noticed.

"They say God lives in temples.

But once a year, He comes out to meet His devotees."

Jagannath Rath Yatra isn't just a procession— it's a reminder that faith finds its way to everyone.

Not every journey is measured in miles.

Some are measured in faith, devotion, and the emotions shared by thousands walking together.

Between the waves and the coffee, I found my favorite part of Muscat.

A slow morning at the beach, a good cup of coffee, and nowhere to rush to.

If I'm ever suddenly lost, you'll probably find me here. 🌊☕✨

And with that, this is the final chapter of my Oman series. 🇴🇲

Twenty frames from a night in Mutrah, Muscat✨🌙

Wandered along the promenade, followed the glow of street lights, explored local shops, watched the city slow down, and discovered little corners that don't make it into travel guides.

Muscat has a way of making even an ordinary evening feel memorable.
