4/5 Mt. St. Helens, Washington I wasn't sure if I was going to come to see St. Helens but I bit the bullet and drove 4 hours from Olympic to go see the famous volcano. It's a wonderful drive there and at first I wasn't sure if I would see it since there were so much fog and clouds, but sure enough the volcano peered through and cleared up after a while. I ended up hiking through the Ape Caves for the long lava tubes which was probably one of the scariest thing to do alone. My last night camping before Seattle ended up being the best campground, I was lucky enough to snag one of the last spots. by @quedija
3/5 Olympic National Park, Washington I had to drop off Ivan back to Jers and I was left traveling, hiking, and camping alone for the remainder of the week. People are really kind out there and I was fortunate to have met some amazing people. Always nice to connect with people who are across the country from you. Olympic NP has such a rich ecosystem, one day I'm at a beach, the next I'm at a rainforest, and the day after that I can see an entire mountain range. There's a lot of solace in being alone out there. by @quedija
2/5 Mount Rainier National Park, Washington This volcano is massive. I mean you can literally see it as you're flying into SEA-TAC and as you're driving thru Washington. It's magnificent. Ivan and I hiked up Skyline loop trail and the wildflowers were blooming at full swing and every step was closer and closer to the top. If only we had climbing gear, an ice pick, and actual climbing experience we would have loved to go up to the summit. But ~7000 ft in elevation was more than enough for the views. We did a class 3 climb up near the summit for Pinnacle Peak trail and there was not a soul in site at sunset! We were alone with 4 mountains (Mt.Hood, Mt.Adams, Mt.St.Helens, Mt.Rainier). We spent a few lunches outside with a beautiful view each and every time. Also, I hate pie but I had the BEST blackberry pie in my life at Copper Creek Restaurant. by @quedija
I sprained my ankle after this 😭...pero like why.. by @quedija
2/8 We got so lucky with our last minute campground in Grand Canyon because right next to it we got to see the sunrise at 5:30 am. We watched the east side of the canyon glisten with reds and oranges. I thought Bright Angel trail was one of the hardest hikes I've ever done (and we didn't even have the time or permits to do the whole thing) but I didn't know how wrong I was until we reached Yosemite several days later. 1/8 Literally had to recover the last few days from this entire trip. Sad it's over 😩 Swipe to the last 3 to see Billy Bob the mountain goat, Dale the squirrel, and a wild Jo. Also, I have no idea how many photosets there will be 🥴 Ft: Conifer & Mt.Evans/Idaho Springs, Colorado Arches National Park, Utah by @quedija
