a great Summer for wearing clothes! (or, you know, not wearing clothes) ☀️ by @queen_pri_

$Earlier this Summer I traveled to Finland after the loss of my Ukki, & also, unexpectedly, the loss of my Uncle Pasi. It’s difficult to explain this feeling of grief. While I wasn’t particularly close to either of them, they were constant figures in my life, a reminder of where I came from, & some of the closest relatives I had. My Ukki, my mom’s dad, was raised in rural Eastern Finland, where he spent his entire life. Because of this, he only spoke Finnish, & unfortunately, any “conversations” I had with him were via gracious translators. Interestingly there’s a LOT you can learn about a person just by being around them, & of course family lore and pictures fill in a lot of blanks. Ukki was an outdoorsman from the day he was born, sleeping in haystacks & barns to fish in the mornings before school. Per my cousin Otto, he knew everything about the Finnish wilderness - trees, plants, fish, berries. He had also loved to run, & bragged about once being “the fastest man in Nurmes” (my mom’s hometown.) He was restless & a terrible sleeper and some of us :) have inherited those genes :))) & on one visit in 2012 after biking & running around with my sister all day I remember him saying to my mom “I’m so proud that I have very active granddaughters” & that made me happy. Thanks for the restless genes, Ukki. I will be thinking about you for the rest of my life as I’m up in the middle of the night, tinkering & walking around. I will always remember my Uncle as being extremely generous, facilitating our first trip to Disneyland, hosting us for visits throughout my life, (including several late night rides home in Helsinki in my adult years :p) He had a similar sense of humor & mannerisms as his big sister, my Mom, which always made me smile. I loved meeting his lifelong group of college friends & felt I got to see him in a new way - he was a steady, constant, friend, who quietly “took care of things.” He just did things for many people, (including planning my parent’s wedding, which I had never known before) & I’ve been reminded of times throughout my life where arrangements had been made for me without a second thought. {cont. in comments} by @queen_pri_$

can’t a girl have a cute weekend 🕺🏽🥳🎸 by @queen_pri_

self-portraits via my tripod on a rare day off from shooting in Kansas last Summer

I was *obsessed* with this overgrown abandoned auto shop, if it looks familiar 😊

This is something I’ve literally never attempted before - how’d I do?! by @queen_pri_

back in small-town Kansas for a quick pick-up shoot has me looking back on last year’s principal photography & the many sweaty walks, folksy vignettes, & locals asking me “what are you doing here”

I ❤️ #independentfilm and hope to be able to share more, soon! by @queen_pri_

you: a businessman invading my small midwestern town to buy up charming mainstay properties for condos ?!
her: a scrappy young lady who inherited the town’s beloved auto body shop from her dad (always behind on bills bc of a sliding scale for services)

and WHEN I see you at my local dive I will kick your ass at darts and THEN spit on your shoes! We might fall in love (Lifetime) or I might stuff your body in a trunk (HBO) just kinda depends on who picks it up.

(not sure exactly who this girl is but that feels right!)

📸: by @ben.mcbee almost exactly one year ago (at a location I stumbled on and was obsessed with!) on a day off from shooting. Excited to be back in Kansas soon for round two of The Country Doctor. Stay tuned!! by @queen_pri_
