POSTS STORIES REELS

Multiple authors have been in touch with me this week to let me know the publishing scammers are once again posing as me.

My work email ends in @wolflit.com, and I will never contact you from another email address.

These scams are really widespread at the moment. Please remember in trad pub money *always* flows *to* the autbor - you will never be asked to pay an agent a flat fee, or to buy marketing or editorial packages or similar in order to secure a deal. by @rachcrawfordagent

SOMETHING IN THE WOODS LOVES YOU by Jarod K. Anderson is a memoir about depression and the healing power of nature, about masculinity, and interspecies interconnectedness, about kindness, and human creativity. A warm hug on a dark day, a gentle invitation toward commune with nature, and a startlingly vulnerable offering. Many, many readers have already discovered the unusual magic of this book, and now it's available in paperback. (My agent copies just landed, and isn't it stunning?) @jarodkanderson @cryptonaturalist by @rachcrawfordagent

DEAL NEWS! Thrilled that @kensingtonbooks will publish the next two novels by Linda Hamilton! DEVILS ALL AROUND YOU blends little-known history, an unforgettable protagonist, and unexpected folklore into a feminist, atmospheric-as-hell Western gothic. I love The Fourth Wife (Linda's bestselling debut!), and The Glass Looker (forthcoming in March!), and DEVILS ALL AROUND YOU may still end up being my favorite Linda Hamilton novel so far - readers are in for something special. Congratulations @lindahamiltonwriter! by @rachcrawfordagent

Enormous congratulations to Charlotte Grieve, who has just won The Australian Crime Writers Association's Ned Kelly Award for True Crime! The Ned Kellys are Australia's oldest and most prestigious awards for crime writing.

DUTY TO WARN is the story of a dogged young journalist with a hunch, the powerful doctor she sought to hold to account, and the incredibly brave patients and whistleblowers who risked so much in order to tell their stories. It's a true crime story that culminates in am explosive court case, and it manages to be both page-turning and told with incredible care.

DUTY TO WARN is now available in the US, the UK, and Australia. Congratulations again Charlotte! by @rachcrawfordagent

Happy publication day! SAINT DELILAH by Isabelle Spotts is out TODAY in the U.S and Canada. This spooky, twisty, feminist page-turner kept me up all night the first time I read it (and several times since!) and I am so excited for readers to get their hot little hands on it today. It's about the ghost of a murdered young woman who will stop at nothing to find her killer, and to make it him pay ... Come for the feminine rage, stay for the creepy small town populated by mediums and misfits, think THE LOVELY BONES meets PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, by way of David Lynch. Congratulations on publication @isabellespotts! 👻🔮 by @rachcrawfordagent

Attn querying writers! I'll be closing to unsolicited submissions at the end of May, through the North American summer, reopening sometime in September. Exceptions, as ever, for direct referrals, previously requested contact/materials, and for Australian journalists working on timely nonfiction. (I am not "closing my books", just getting caught up on previously received queries 😊.) by @rachcrawfordagent

DEAL NEWS! Delighted to share that @feministpress will publish ATTACK HELICOPTER MOTHER by @kjtomaras! Kassandra's proposal for this braided work of theory and personal writing absolutely blew me away with its depth, sensitivity, and newness, and I am beyond privileged to get to work with her in bringing her important work to readers. by @rachcrawfordagent

Today's the day! @lindahamiltonwriter's debut novel THE FOURTH WIFE is OUT NOW with @kensingtonbooks! I don't even know where to begin with this book: It has *layers*. It's not only a page-turning, kinda spicy, ghostly gothic mystery, it's also a really fascinating look at little-known Mormon folklore (folk magic, you might say), and an exploration of religious patriarchy, AND it's a feminist story of reclamation of selfhood in the face of oppression, AND! it features four sister wives trying, somehow, to muddle through together. If any of those elements pique your interest, you're going to LOVE this book, just like I do.

Congratulations Linda! by @rachcrawfordagent

Happy publication day @sarahtakesphotos! Sarah's debut novel THE WATER TAKES is out TODAY from @summitbooksaus. When this novel landed in my inbox, I devoured it in one sitting - it's a propulsive story about an older woman and a young girl thrown together in a moment of ecological crisis; it's a disaster story that isn't about survivalism and weapons, but about care, disappointment, grit, hope. And a moment for the writing! Which is gorgeous, at once lyrical and voicey. Suffice to say I love, love, love this moving, singular book, and I hope you will too. by @rachcrawfordagent

Deal news! Congratulations Megan Milks (@sklimnagem) and Amber Dawn (@amberdawn_mononym). A new anthology of short fiction seeking to name an emerging literary movement THE NEW QUEER WEIRD, forthcoming from @feministpress, published by @jeanneticallymodified. I've worked with Megan for nearly ten years, and their brain never ceases to amaze me - like everything they do, this anthology promises to be at the vanguard of queer, literary work, and desperately fun to read. I can't wait to see what Megan and Amber Dawn put together for us with this anthology. (& if you very literally can't wait, don't forget MEGA MILK is available is right now!) by @rachcrawfordagent

Congratulations Jarod K. Anderson, whose debut novel STRANGE ANIMALS publishes today with @ballantinebooks! You may know Jarod through his nature poetry or podcast (@cryptonaturalist), through his divine memoir SOMETHING IN THE WOODS LOVES YOU, or you might be coming to his work fresh -- in which case you're in for a thrilling discovery.

STRANGE ANIMALS is a delightful, page-turning, philosophical fantasy novel about a man who experiences a brush with death and is called to the mountains, where he discovers an enchanting world of hidden nature and memorable human characters, all of which, he finds, are in peril. Only through careful study and close attention can he, in concert with far more ancient and powerful forces, save them.

True story: I was enjoying a day off at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo (yes, really) when I got an email from Jarod which included the early pages of this novel. Obviously I couldn't wait to start reading. & that's how my very first peek at the manuscript that would become STRANGE ANIMALS happened overlooking a dozen or so magnificent saltwater crocodiles -- bizarre and incredible creatures, quite literally prehistoric -- apt for this book that celebrates the ordinary magic of nature, and the wonder to be found in our world when we open ourselves to seeing.

It's no small honour to have worked on this book. I can't wait for you all to read it!

Congratulations again Jarod!!! by @rachcrawfordagent
