I believed it was time to breakdown rage into different micro-genres. The subgenre of rage has grown into such an ambiguous name that doesn’t truly reflect the different sounds that are coming out of it, especially with the amount of genre blending that has been going on recently.

Here are a few microgenres within the subgenre of rage… (I know it’s confusing 🫤)

On “change on me,” dubbed “Take Ur B*tch” by fans, Nettspend raps about his upbringing, his lifestyle, and dr*gs.

On January 28, 2026, Nettspend took to Instagram live to preview “change on me,” alongside “CCP Hedi*”.

Couple months later, on April 30, “change on me” released on Nettspend’s debut compilation album HIM.

Zain Siddiqui, professionally known as MISOGI, is a recording artist, record producer, and label owner based in London, England.

MISOGI’s artist name is the result of his love for the Street Fighter video game series. In the franchise, the “misogi” is a special attack achieved by character Shin Akuma. He also describes his moniker as a searchable name that represents not being bound to the confines of a particular genre or period in time.

Beyond his own music, MISOGI has become a frequent creative mind behind the production for Ken Carson, Che, Prettifun, Lucy Bedroque, Kuru & others within the current underground rap scene

In 2021, MISOGI co-founded the record label and production group Pink Noise.

3 years ago today, Che released his second commercial EP: Crueger!

It was a step into more Chicago drill / dark trap inspired music but incorporated elements & sounds from DMV crank (free car music) & Chicago Bop (a pop rap style subgenre that grew out of the Chicago Drill scene)

While die hard Che fans might hold this project close to their hearts the overall consensus on the EP was that it was lack luster in its originality & had some mixing issues that made the vocals sound drowned out or incoherent. Some even stated that it was slightly boring compared to his previous EP, Closed Captions released 3 months prior. Che even has this project listed as a compilation rather than an EP or album across his DSPs signaling that even he didn’t want it to stain his discography.

Although it might not have been his best piece of work, serious Che fans still request songs from this era & wish there was a deluxe version of the project released officially.

What are your thoughts on Crueger by Che, 3 years later?

Every musical genre has its set of instrumentation that define its sound and characteristics. Rage is no different!

From its origins utilizing video game like synth melodies to its more recent transition to a more chaotic distortion heavy style designed for opening moshpits, rage has remained distinct from other underground genres!

Vocals are also used as an hypnotic instrument where words or phrases are often repeated in order to create a rhythmic chant!

October has been proven to be a solid month for great rage albums, EPs, mixtapes & singles. There has been a bunch of speculation about projects dropping this month of October 2026 but nothing has arrived quite yet.

Chief Keef would help pioneer and grow the developing Chicago drill sound in the early 2010s with his breakout hits “I Don’t Like” & “Love Sosa”. He would go onto inspire future Billboard charting stars in hip-hop such as Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and 21 Savage. His success came at a young age during his teenage years which would later influence other teenage rappers such as Lil Pump, XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD & Tay-K.

Che has begun to show a similar level of influence on his generation with the releases of several cult classic projects which would go onto birth the careers of several clones & continue to push the envelope on experimental trap & rage music (all before the age of 21)

Michael Jackson went on his historic 3 album run from 1979 to 1987 during his twenties & captured 17 top ten hits throughout this run all together!

Playboi Carti went on a run in his own regard, experimenting with his vocal deliveries & utilizing the musical production he was supplied with & putting together a label in order to create an influential force that would popularize a new micro-genre of hip-hop and inspire many young up and coming artists with his blueprint & mysterious aura.

Innovations to music aren’t simply just created out of thin air. There are a few stages that producers must go through before creating something that the world has never heard before.
A few of these stages include:

-Inspiration
-Recreation
-Experimentation
-Innovation

Many times what musicians listen to very often, influences what they will create. And unless you want to stay stuck in a bubble, these inspirations may come from many different genres.

So in today’s post, I discovered the influences behind the genre bending label who is influencing many with their bright synth leads, heavy bass, and overall fast paced energetic beats pushing the rage subgenre forward, Pink Noise.

@grassarrows & @mysilentheaven have worked with many artists within the space such as Che, Prettifun, Destroy Lonely, Skaiwater + more.
