Servants of the Sun is officially available for preorder, with a release date of April 1st, 2022. The link in my bio will take you to the eBook listing (paperback will be available on release). I am proud (and terrified) to put this out there after a long road of hard work and grief, but I would do it a thousand times over again. I can’t wait for you to read it, and I hope you do. From the experiences that inspired it to the work I put in writing, I think I really have something worth sharing. Cover art by @soot_design by @raleighkbarnes
So incredibly blown away by the love. Every piece of the puzzle is so appreciated and cherished. I keep getting the question: what’s it like to be home? And to be honest, I don’t know yet. It’s slowly hitting me, all the Florida things I missed (pictured here). But it’s also worn out, like a hand-me-down your older sibling had years before you got it. I’m feeling that urge to leave again, to see more of this world that turned out to be so much bigger than home, but even stronger is the peace that I feel here, the value of existing where you are known. We wonder about life on other planets, but what about love? I came to Korea without connections, a plan, or even a grasp on the language, and I’d say I came as close as I could to life on another planet. But I found a wealth of love, too. Thank you so much to everyone who helped me feel welcome, to learn the ways. You know who you are. Film by @planetarylarry and me. by @raleighkbarnes
Extremely grateful to be included in the Secret Garden Market this year. It was a remarkable experience that I can’t properly describe. Huge thank you to @sunday____everyday and @jennaalexanderstudio for allowing me to come out and do my thing. . . . . #poetry #literature #improv #arts #market #writingcommunity by @raleighkbarnes
A year without context or explanation—as if any of them have had such I wouldn’t have it any other way by @raleighkbarnes
I’ve really enjoyed improv poetry and would love to do more. So if you have an event coming up, hire your boy to come out and make some personalized poems. DM for availability. Much love to the homie @planetarylarry for making this reel. . . . . #poetry #improv #poems #poetsofinstagram #saintaugustine #artsmarket #poetforhire #improvisation #popup #typewriter #vintage #writing #writingcommunity by @raleighkbarnes
What an unbelievable honor. I can’t begin to detail the nervousness surrounding this event, but it was more than worth it. A massive thank you to @planetarylarry, @sunday____everyday and @jennaalexanderstudio for not only giving me the opportunity to do my thing, but for constant support and encouragement throughout. The perfectionist/hermit in me never would’ve done it otherwise. And I appreciate everyone who came out and helped me figure my way through this. Alright alright alright enough gushing. Attention! Word on the street is I’ll be writing poems live, in the flesh, at the secret garden market put on by @sunday____everyday and @jennaalexanderstudio. I’m psyched to try this out and hope to see you there. These are some poems that stood out from my stories the other day. Thanks again to everyone who sent a word, or donated some of their hard-earned money. Would love to do more of these, and get better at coming up with things on the spot. If you missed the story prompt, come out this Saturday. by @raleighkbarnes
Snuck in one more trip to Cali before Al and Elise moved back home. Proud of these two for all they accomplished out yonder. by @raleighkbarnes
This poem is for the single people. The experience is a real mix of things, but can be especially rough around the holidays. This is a reminder that you deserve to be good to yourself. . #poem #poetry #poetrycommunity #single #lifequotes #writing #community #verse #loveyourself #selfcare #quote by @raleighkbarnes
