Hi! Rue here. It feels a little surreal to be writing this message but here goes! Tish, Jael & myself have made the difficult, though necessary, decision to close Label By Three. This will be our last year. We started LX3 to make clothes that we love for ourselves & the kind of community we wanted to see in the fashion world. We taught ourselves how to design samples & photo shoots, market our pieces, scrimp & save & plan & execute. We put our own money in, typically working full-time somewhere else to do so. We knew from the beginning that we had to be sustainable & we paid a fair wage to our seamstresses, contractors, etc, & worked to highlight & uplift our community by showcasing folks with different body types, gender identities & backgrounds. We wanted to make clothes to be worn season to season; investment pieces that look good on you & that will stay in your closet for years to come. We did ALL those things and I’m so proud of us! We participated in NYFW’s Black Designer Showcase; we photographed one another in Joshua Tree wearing our first-ever collection; we packaged every single one of your orders ourselves & would call/text/meme spam each other every time one came in. It has been such a beautiful process-- even when there have been fuck ups, a negative balance in the bank account, super early mornings & late nights or unsuccessful events. Despite setbacks we grew as business owners, creators, sisters & friends, & I think I speak for all of us when I say I wouldn’t change it for the world. In all things, there is change & as we’ve gotten older our plans for our lives & our futures have too. At the moment LX3 doesn’t quite fit that future & it feels sad, but okay. LX3 has been a big part of our lives for the last 5 years, & now we get to focus on other aspirations & goals. We are very proud of our little shop & the community we share. Thank you so much for putting our pieces in your shops, modeling for us, buying our designs, & for helping make a space in this market for three mixed black women from a small town. So bye bye for now, but not forever. It’s been very sweet & we love you. Thanks for showing us love too. ❤️ by @rathernicestore
