A reflection. Every Sunday morning, after #BentangJawa2026 concludes the day before, we sit down at the same long table at Hotel Blambangan. For the first time since the five of us went our separate ways a week earlier, we are together again. Hot cups of coffee and tea in hand, recounting the stories of the days before and reflecting on everything that has happened over the past seven days. By the time this post goes up, our race map has been viewed 2.6 million times, and our last wanderer has returned to a home away from home. It has been a great journey, and a long, long way from where we started six years ago, when we set ourselves a simple goal: to spread the joy of unsupported long-distance cycling. As #BentangJawa grows larger, so does the discourse around it. From the selection process all the way until the proverbial finish gate closes. That is expected. That is normal. And we are pleased to see the conversation grow louder. It is a sign of a community growing, emotions being invested, and ideas maturing. We would have it no other way. We are far from perfect, and we know it. Mistakes were made. Decisions were scrutinized. And throughout it all, we are constantly reminded of how fortunate, or blessed, we are to have our close-knit Bentang Jawa family behind us: cheering, defending, supporting, motivating, educating, and generously understanding. Yes, that means you: Bentang Jawa veterans, volunteers, dot watchers, sponsors, partners, and our own families. To our riders, wherever your ride ended, you are our heroes. Through your integrity, struggles, tears, and joy, you have inspired others. You have brought happiness, distraction, and, perhaps most importantly, hope to countless people. Especially at a time like this for our nation. You have earned our utmost respect and gratitude. Until, hopefully, next time. Darrick, Rayza, Riefa, Rihan, and Xto. by @rayza_tisnohadi
Bentang Jawa is like a book. Every page is written by its riders, where every paragraph is poetry shaped by the people who support them throughout their journey, their family, friends and people who support them throughout the ride. Its stories are of struggle and determination, sure, but they are also stories of love and sacrifice, of joy and heartbreak, laughter and tears, and eventually, a story of one adventure in finding a better version of themselves. That is why every time we part with the riders after the conclusion of Bentang Jawa, we thank them for taking part in this adventure, for having the humility to follow its rules, and for having the courage to be vulnerable so that they can write their stories. There will be a time to thank everyone involved in Bentang Jawa, but for now, let us thank our riders, their loved ones and, of course, our own loved ones, the five ladies and a bunch of kids who, year after year, let us wander the southern coast of Java to take care of our Bentang Jawa family. Thank you. Darrick, Rayza, Riefa, Rihan and Xto #BentangJawa by @rayza_tisnohadi
Every rule has a reason. In this episode of Ngobrol di Rumah, the bapak-bapak sit down to talk about the regulations: how they are designed, why they exist, and what each one is meant to protect and preserve. Because the rules aren’t there to make the journey harder. They’re there to define how the journey should be taken. A conversation about fairness, safety, self-sufficiency, and the spirit of ultra-cycling. The beginning of the journey. Every great adventure starts with a conversation. Long before 1,500 kilometers across Java, there was an idea shared between five bapak-bapak who simply loved to ride. In Ngobrol di Rumah, get to know the five people behind #BentangJawa. Hear how different personalities found common ground, how conversations became a vision, and how that vision grew into Indonesia’s first ultra-cycling event. Every journey has a beginning. Ours started with a conversation. Tap the link in our bio to watch. P.S. You’ll also find out their favorite foods. P.P.S. Knowing their favorite foods won’t help you bribe them. #BentangJawa2026 by @rayza_tisnohadi
Wajar banget kalo bapak-bapak satu ini banyak fansnya lintas generasi, kerennya rata kanan! Segala yang ada rodanya dimainin sama dia. Sosok dibalik kerennya segala jenis design BJ ini akhirnya berkesempatan untuk menjadi Race Director @bentangjawa 2026. Udah sih gitu aja informasinya 😅 #bentangjawa #racedirector by @rayza_tisnohadi
Love sekebon untuk @biznetgiocloud & @mujiono.cc 🖤🫶🏿 #BentangJelajahNusantara #BentangJawa #BJPanuwun by @rayza_tisnohadi
Dope ass day! by @rayza_tisnohadi
Last night we spent hours discussing the applications line by line, column by column. With over 650 applications that we received, its tedious tasks, sometimes we spent more time than we have to in discussing one application, conscious of natural human bias, trying hard to ensure that we are producing fair outcome, although we accepted that eventually, the raffles will decide the final results. There is an easy way for sure, one that relies on mathematical logic or even an AI, saving our time and effort. But these applicants are people, fellow cyclist and in every applications it carried dreams and stories of the people and their loved ones. For all the effort and honesty that they have shared, at the very least we returned the same. By the end of the night, we are not even halfway through, still plenty if works to do, but even under the stifling and humid night air under the weight of intense discussion we had, we come home upbeat and positive on how the country cycling scene continuous beats. Whether we will see you on starting line, much of it depending on luck as much your palmares, but regardless, thank you for sharing and trying to be part of @bentangjawa 2026. #bentangjawa #bentangjawa2026 #bj6 by @rayza_tisnohadi
Wrapping up our annual team offsite with the final meeting at the movie screening venue. Offsite is really a misnomer in our case because we never really in-site. Nor “outting” is really true because every-time we met we are always out-there anyway, the last one just few days before during blizzard in Puncak Pass. So really, it’s just boys days out with few hours spent to iron out the details for few ideas we have for this year. Our wive and partners knew as much 😂 Cannot wait to share this year plan ! Bentang Jawa 2025 has broken many of its own records — the fastest finisher, the highest number of riders, the most finishers, the longest distance, the greatest elevation gain, and the largest number of dot watchers. Our records show that Bentang Jawa 2025 was viewed no less than 1.4 million times over the course of seven days, triple our usual viewership. Honoured, surprised, and excited are the first words that come to mind. Yet with new dot watchers also comes curiosity, expectation, and, to a certain extent, judgement. It’s no surprise that some of the comments on social media were not always made with the best intent or consideration. This is expected and understood. After all, ultra-cycling is a rather niche culture and community, with its own written and unwritten rules. The reason Bentang Jawa exists is to share the beauty of unsupported cycling. This is our north star, the destination of our journey as organisers, and the path we continue to follow — a path that is, in itself, full of opportunities for learning and growth. The hundreds of stories, life lessons, and inspirations woven through the tapestry of Bentang Jawa 2025 are now being shared more widely than ever before. Knowing that they reach and inspire so many new eyes and minds fills us with joy far more than any criticism could concern us. In truth, we have always been very fortunate. Our closest families — wives, girlfriends, and children — along with our friends, BJ alumni, volunteers, and long-time dot watchers, have been our staunchest defenders and most loyal companions. Compassionate and understanding of our weaknesses, forgiving yet constructive in their support. In moments of challenge, they rose to the occasion. They took their valuable time to support us, to respond, explain, enlighten, and guide the newer ones. There are no words that could fully express our gratitude for the friendship, loyalty, and care that has been shown to us. But if words fall short, let us at least say this: our north star remains unchanged. Until next year, Darrick, Eca, Xto, Rihan, and Riefa #BentangJawa #BentangJawa2025 #BJ25 by @rayza_tisnohadi
