To celebrate Global Bible Month with a 30-day reading challenge this November in partnership with @youversioneastafrica , I’m so excited to announce, ‘Jesus & Juice: A 30-Day Journey of Faith & Healing from Alcohol Addiction’, created for anyone recovering from alcohol addiction/alcohol use disorder who is learning to live sober, heal and walk closely with God. Over 30 days, this reading plan invites you to bring every part of your sobriety & recovery journey before God through His Word. Each day, you’ll find a biblical reflection in The Juice Jar, created to encourage your heart, strengthen your faith and remind you that you can take recovery one day and one step at a time with Jesus. To read ‘Jesus & Juice: A 30-Day Journey of Faith and Healing from Alcohol Addiction’, head to the YouVersion Bible App or visit the LINK IN MY BIO by @rebecca.makyeli
There was always a deep knowing that women walking the road of sobriety and addiction recovery needed somewhere to belong, a place where their stories could be held gently and their struggles met with understanding. Out of that burden, the @ahavalifeorg Women's Sober Community is born, We are sisters on the same road, finding in each other and in Christ the courage to keep going and find freedom. 🙏🏾 To join the AhavaLife Women's Sober Community 👉🏾 LINK IN BIO For more information and details, drop me a DM. 🙏🏾 by @rebecca.makyeli
Are we really teaching young people to speak up when they’re struggling? At the L.I.V.E Conference, I had the opportunity to share a lived experience perspective on youth mental health, vulnerability, addiction, and the importance of seeking help early. One thing I shared: “A bad day is not a bad life, but how you deal with a bad day can lead to a bad life.” Young people need safe spaces where they can talk, ask for help, be heard, and know that struggling does not make them weak. Mental health conversations must go beyond awareness. They must create pathways to support, intervention and healing. #LIVEConference #YouthMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #AddictionPrevention #LivedExperience EarlyIntervention by @rebecca.makyeli

On Independence Day, I had the privilege of attending the Uganda Basketball Players Association (@_ubpa_ ) All Star Fest 2026 at the Lugogo MTN Indoor Arena, where I was invited to speak briefly about athletes and mental wellness. Athletes carry the weight of expectations, competition, performance pressure and personal challenges. Creating space for honest conversations about mental health is essential to helping them thrive, both on and off the court. Grateful to UBPA for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation. by @rebecca.makyeli
In addiction prevention, the voices of people who have lived through substance use, recovery, stigma and the barriers to accessing help offer insights that statistics alone cannot capture. When lived experience is brought into advocacy, it can help us: • Challenge stigma and harmful narratives around addiction • Identify gaps in prevention and early intervention • Influence policies that reflect real community needs • Strengthen support systems for people at risk • Make prevention more compassionate, relevant and effective Lived experience should go beyond telling our stories. It should be invited to the tables where decisions are made. Lived experience can inform better policies, challenge broken systems and help shape prevention strategies that reach people earlier.
