“I feel the trees, I feel the wind, I feel my truest self, my connection to the group, my neighbors.”

Brushwood’s Health, Equity, and Nature Accelerator activates equitable nature - based solutions through community and healthcare partnerships. Connecting people with nature, themselves, and in turn, their environment and community, is where this work begins.

The Accelerator consists of…
🌱 data and research
🌱nature based community health worker training, TIERRA
🌱mobilizing action to address economic and racial disparities at the intersection of health & the environment

Forest Bathing is one practice towards resilience and change. Guided by Brushwood’s Coalition Building Manager, and certified Forest Therapy Guide, Jess Rodriguez, Forest Bathing can be a way for everyone, no matter your abilities or relationship to nature, to connect to your senses and improve wellbeing.

The next Forest Therapy Guided Walk is Sunday, December 21st. This program is currently waitlisted, but you can add your name to the list at the 🔗

Excited to share the wonderful news of the forest with Chicago 🌿 And how @brushwoodcenter and I are working to incorporate forest bathing into many avenues of community and public programming in Lake County.

I am so honored to be in deep relationship with the patterns of the earth and of the forest. I am so deeply honored to be trusted to offer a message through the forest to the world of this practice. I believe that in turning our attention to the earth and listening to her wisdom, we can heal ourselves, our communities, and the natural world.

pull your attention back in, reground yourself in the earth’s dreams, maybe notice some of the queer ecology around us, and breathe through the forest

In collaboration with @theconservationfoundation and in partnership with the Kane County Nature Rx Coalition, I have had the opportunity to cocreate audio recordings for Wandering with Wonder 🌀

Wandering with Wonder is a series of self-paced prompts inspired by the practice of forest bathing that you can use anywhere in nature. It is a wellness experience that invites you to notice the rhythms of nature and connect to the place you are in through your senses.

If you have ever enjoyed being guided by my voice, here is a gift for you. Links to both Spanish and English recordings can be found in my bio.

If you ever find yourself in the following preserves, you can also find guided signage with the audio recordings:
~ Hampshire Forest Preserve (Hampshire)
~ Hawthorne Hill Nature Center (Elgin)
~ Delnor Woods Park (St. Charles)
~ Oakhurst Forest Preserve (Aurora)

the earth moves in rhythms, in ebbs, in spirals that ripple and flow

I have always dreamed of watching us humans partake in that dance, as dance

@houseofdov is in motion with the earth, moving as the leaves do in the wind and as flock of birds and a school of fish and as roots becoming entangled. displaying with the human body the value and love of the interdependency of our soul

it was a dream to guide these dancing beings in the forest, and then watch them perform with the same forest all in one weekend

follow @houseofdov to find an opportunity to witness Circle of Apathy 🌀 by @reciprocalforestbathing

In collaboration with @greenspellorg we are creating this two part series

July 28th - Part 1 grounds us in the practice of forest bathing. Connecting ourselves to our inner worlds, and our outer worlds (our human community and the more than human world). This is an opportunity to slow down and reset, giving us a moment to see the world with a new perspective perhaps. This experience will take place at LaBagh Woods.

July 30th - Part 2 is a discussion on how can we tune into our connection to nature and become inspired by our relationship to the trees, the birds, the wind, the waters, and more, and bring their presence into our healthcare spheres. Healthcare in its westernized traditional and nontraditional sense. Participants are invited to bring a nature being for part 2, see registration for more details.

See the link in my bio for more info and registration, we have 4 solidarity pricing tickets and 18 normal priced tickets.
