“I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.” - zoolander. Or @alex_timmer

We’ve never seen Timmer and zoolander in the same room at the same time. Just saying.

Red Kilo Juniors continue to DELIVER

After a winter going in circles and going cross-eyed hidden away in our little old velodrome off the Barnett highway, the Canadian Junior Track Championships took place last weekend in Edmonton’s fancy new track.

The Red Kilo Juniors represented well - with @therealdamobabul, @vigliotticohen, Noel, and @jack.k1024 travelling to represent BC and red kilo.

@therealdamobabul and @vigliotticohen had a particularly successful weekend

Damian won the scratch, keirin, and points. He also took podiums in the elim, and shared the podium with teammate Noel for the team pursuit, team sprint, and Madison. Was there any other track rider out there with a result list that diverse in sprint, bunch, and timed events? Yes. Cohen.

@vigliotticohen also showed he’s no one trick pony after an amazing sprint victory in the Kierin against some serious sprint talent. He also won bunch racing events coming 1st in the points and 1st in the madison. And if sprinting and bunch racing wasn’t diverse enough, he won the team sprint and came second in the team pursuit as well.

You could argue it’s hard to develop racers when they join the team and immediately come home with SEVEN NATIONAL TITLES. But we say we’re just getting started. by @red.kilo

The Red Kilo Junior program opened their season with some heat down in Arizona 🔥

Jack, Cohen, Edward, and Keaton represented red kilo (sadly kit not here in time for them to rep) and boy did they represent well

Solid results and experience for the whole squad, in particular @keatonschisler with multiple wins leading him to the GC win overall.

The season is just getting started for this squad and we are STOKED to be a part of their racing and development by @red.kilo

SAVE THE DATE.
BIT EARLIER THIS YEAR (thank you FIFA).

Red Kilo was founded with the mantra “a place to develop new racers”

To stay true to this - we are extremely proud to be forming a focused & structured Junior Racer Program

And what better way to do that, than by recruiting some absolute DAWGS. Damian set the tone for the team last year, and this year is only going to get better

@therealdamobabul - equal parts polite and competitive, he’s a gentleman off the bike and a demon in the final sprint. Damian was a big part of what paved the way for us starting this junior program

@jack.k1024 - you’ve heard the legend of “take a lap jack”, the beast who took a lap on a stacked A field at the track and won the points race. he’s also the CRC local legend

@_enrickm_ is 100% dressed better than you, and is either ripping a cross race or a backflip on skis at whistler.

@keatonschisler - from a history of mountain biking, we’ve seen plenty of super strong riders transition from MTB to crits/road/track (looking at you @cammccallummtb ). A force to be reckoned with at the 9.32 ride

@edwardmal0ney might take the crown as the nicest guy in local racing, and is coming for a few other crowns this year, whether it’s on the track or on the road

Noel Maraun- yes, that Maraun. Need we say more? A staple at the track, he’s already a force in the As.

Our goal for the year is to have a small, focused junior race team, which will be lead and mentored by people who were racing “before my parents even knew each other”. Under the mentorship of @eurotune and @jeffwerner, we can’t wait to see what they achieve this year and are excited to be part of their journey as developing athletes by @red.kilo
