Debut album:
The November Room - @theandyglitch

Founder and guitarist of the psych-prog art rock band @elanoreswede, @theandyglitch has decided to experiment with solo output by releasing The November Room. The entire album was written, recorded, and mixed in just a 5-week period beginning in early November 2024.

“I wanted to release this album as close its state of creation as possible. It is sparse, lightly-produced, and presented in its raw, completely blemished form as a record of that place in time in which these songs were created.”

Andy handles every aspect of these recordings, serving as composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist; pulling from the DNA an eclectic palette of influences to craft a distinct sonic footprint that is unmistakably his own.

“The Haunted Studio”

“People have asked what it was like recording in a haunted building. I can say it was very interesting. First of all, she would let us know in no uncertain terms when it had gotten late and was time to shut down. Most of all, you could sense this energy sometimes and other times it would be more like a presence, if that makes any sense. And yeah, a couple of us caught some glimpses of things here and there too.

It’s never escaped me how serendipitously bizarre this process has been. Elanore Swede had existed with that name for many years before we moved into that building, and these songs were already written. The band was already planning to record this exact concept album. We were not searching for a building with a ghost (let alone a ghost named Elanora) to record in, but that’s where we wound up being.

That building is owned by Amanda, the artist that does our album art, and the painting on the cover of Spectral Continuum was done around a decade ago. I didn’t meet this artist until after we had been rehearsing in the building for over a year. Summer was the one that previously knew her and had arranged for us to rent the space and work there. It wasn’t until Amanda and I met and started talking that we begin connecting the dots of our music, her art, and the ghost in her building.

You see where I’m going with this? We were meant to be in that space in this time, working these songs into their final form.

So, what was like recording in a haunted building? Really, I think you can hear it and feel it on the record.”

Spectral / Continuum:
“This is the real end, but also the beginning. There really is no end…it was just an illusion. We thought it would be over but here we are, rising away and looping back around again.

Two songs in one. We’ll sometimes close our live sets with this one because we can extend the jam at the end and improvise to go anywhere we want for a proper grand finale. We like to jam Continuum out pretty wild and loose live.

Spectral is perhaps our most straightforwardly written song from a structural standpoint…except that it weaves in and out of different genres, it kicks in with a 4 bar guitar solo, there’s a piano solo, a Richard shredder solo, a weird melodic lead, and a left-field undercurrent to the whole vibe. And then we launch straight into the drum and bass jungle groove of Continuum….fade out, fade in.” - AG (Inside Spectral Continuum 7/7)

Ghost:
“This is the end, but not really. It’s only what we thought it was. Until we knew better. So far it’s been a long, weird journey…but this one will be the longest and weirdest one of all.

This is almost a 10 minute song. It’s delicate. It’s wild. It’s heavy. It’s atmospheric. It’s all over the place.

Again, Summer’s vocals give me chills, and the interplay in the middle section that she does with Drew is just beautiful to me. Also Drew’s piano….chills.

And good grief, Ben absolutely goes off on this song…LUDICROUS drumming. This is NOT an easy song to play on drums, and he just nails it. And that’s one solid take, no punch-ins!” - AG (Inside Spectral Continuum 6/7)

Duae Animae:
“The album version of this song starts with a minute and a half instrumental intro. This is the mid-way point of the album in time, and turning point in theme. We’ve now crossed the point of no return, and Richard’s guitar solo in the intro translates that feeling into a musical language, spoken through the notes he carefully chose to play there. It brings me to tears if I’m not careful about when and where I listen to that particular piece of music in the intro.

Once the rest of the band kicks in, there’s this spacey folk-prog vibe. Summer’s vocals are beautiful and reserved in the beginning, and then they start escalating before finally erupting with fury…there’s just this guttural intensity that she introduces there that I absolutely love.” - AG (Inside Spectral Continuum 5/7)

Fear Child:
“Introspection, realization, growth…if we could move these from the mind to the body more readily maybe we could spiral upward more naturally.

A 9-minute jam-funk-prog tune that goes all over the place. Lance’s bass groove on this track is infectious to my motor senses…it makes my neck wobble and my head bob.

There is also some genius level guitar solo action from Richard. Rock and roll is alive and well and it lives in that man’s fingers…he’s about 5 of my favorite guitar players all rolled into one.” - AG (Inside Spectral Continuum 4/7)

Revel:
“At its most basic essence this song seems to be encouraging us to shut our stupid mouths and open up our all of our senses to listen, if we ever want to get beyond here…wherever ‘here’ might individually be. In addition, I think there’s a struggle that’s beginning to be felt and perhaps an isolation starting to creep into storyline of the album.

This is a song where the arrangement is vital when there are 6 people sending out massive amounts of sonic energy. It’s such a dense mix but everything blends and sits together nicely to my ears. It’s chill, but it jams super hard, and EVERYONE goes off on this one….a total banger and a blast to play live!” - AG (Inside Spectral Continuum 3/7)
