An extra frame from the cooking dock

Let's get real moody….

COOKING DOCK.
This started from one very normal kitchen problem... where do you place your spoon, cutlery, or pot cover when you’re still cooking? Most times, you just drop them on the counter and things get messy. So I designed a simple dock that keeps your utensils and pot cover safely in one place while you cook.

Still a work in progress....

Not much texture to work with here, so the shape has to come mostly from light, shadow, and reflection…. still playing with the lighting, but I like where it’s going

part of what I’ve been building for Mockhaus

Most labels don’t look bad because of your material.
They look bad because of how they’re placed. That “sticker” look?

The fix isn’t complicated:

• Use a render to guide placement
• Design your text separately
• Bring it in as a transparent PNG
• Blend it using alpha
• Align it properly with UVs

That’s it.

Now your text doesn’t sit on the surface…
it feels like part of it.

🚧WIP
Looks like a simple product, right?
But there’s a specific use behind it.
Can you tell what it is?

KNIFE BLOCK

We’ve gotten used to knife blocks that hide everything.
You reach in, guess the slot, and move on. It works… but it’s always been slightly off. This design opens that up.
You can actually see all the knives, so selection is clear.
Placement is guided, not blind, so you’re not forcing the blade in or hitting others.
And the structure is more open, so it doesn’t trap moisture the same way.

The material choices also follow that.
Wood holds the structure, glass opens it up, and there’s a soft layer inside to protect the blade.

Nothing extra here. Just fixing what was already there.

For metallic materials, reflections carry the visuals.
If that part is off, everything feels off. This is one way I’ve been fixing that.

KNIFE BLOCK
This design started with that one moment you don’t really think about when choosing a knife.

If your objects keep distorting on curved surfaces,
you’re probably approaching it the wrong way.

This method fixed that for me.

Try it and see the difference.
