“Irish politics and society have reached an inflection point,” cries an opinion piece in a recent edition of the Irish Times.

The comment refers to a report released by More in Common on opinions and attitudes in Ireland. In particular, when asked about their views on “our political and social institutions", a staggering 41% leaned towards the response: “Just let them all burn”.

And just to be clear, this is not some sort of undirected mob rage. In fact, 63% agree that the “system is rigged to serve the rich and influential.”

As revolutionary communists, we couldn’t agree more. What is this if not working-class anger in search of an expression?

Packed room for our Day School on Saturday — Ireland: from Conquest to Re-conquest.

We had excellent discussions about the Cromwellian Conquest of Ireland, the Rebellion of 1798, and finally, the struggle for a United Ireland today. All the sessions demonstrated that only the scientific method of Marxism is capable of understanding the real processes that have shaped Irish history for 800 years.

Like Connolly, we study our history not as an academic exercise, but in order to understand the lessons it holds for today's revolutionaries.

If you are ready to join us in the fight for a Socialist United Ireland in our lifetime, then head to communism.ie/join today to get organised!

Over the weekend, comrades from all across Ireland and our international came together for our annual congress!

The thread throughout the weekend was clear, capitalism is in its death agony, workers and youth across the world are rising up and are clamouring for change. The objective conditions for the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism is there, rotten ripe for the taking. But what is missing is the subjective factor, a revolutionary party that can bring the working class decisively to that step! What is missing is a Bolshevik party!

That party cannot be built during times of revolution, but must be built in advance. If you want to see change, real change, in your lifetime, then you should join us, help us build a party capable of destroying this barbaric system once and for all.

Europe is in the hands of the youth and the workers. All over the continent, young people are standing up against the states who have discarded their futures in favour of militarism and appeasement of the billionaire class.

Why are these protests happening now? What is the reason that they are spreading so rapidly across national lines? What can we learn about state power from the brutality unleashed against protesters?

We'll be meeting for a coffee and a chat this Thursday at the TSI building on Maynooth Campus. If you want to develop a perspective that understands the potential and the strength of the youth and workers across Europe, come join us! by @revcommunists_ie

On Friday, talks between the government and the trade unions in the WRC collapsed after ten days.

On Monday morning, unions announced that a second public sector strike will take place on Thursday 12 November. This time, the strike action will be accompanied by a rally in Dublin and other locations.

This is taking place in the context of continued militant mobilisations by workers and youth in France, Spain, Portugal and beyond.

If the 12 November strike goes ahead, it will take place during a major meeting of European leaders in Dublin. Moreover, the date will coincide with a planned five-day work-to-rule by Gardaí. Talk about flammable material!

This will be a very hot autumn, with airs of 1968. In France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Serbia, Albania, and elsewhere, movements have already erupted. The same inflammable material exists in abundance everywhere else.

Join the Revolutionary Communists this •Wednesday the 4th at 17:30 in Comhlámh, D02HV05• where we are discussing these revolutionary times and the student movements that are making headlines everyday. by @revcommunists_ie

On Saturday 17 October, the Revolutionary Communists of Ireland held a national Day School titled ‘Ireland: From Conquest to Re-Conquest’ in Dublin. This was the best event our organisation has ever put on – proven not only by the number in attendance, but also by the depth and quality of the discussions held throughout the day.

In fact, more than 70 people bought tickets for the event, making it our largest national event to date – a testament to the development of the forces of revolutionary communism in Ireland, and the thirst for revolutionary ideas among the youth.

We reaffirm our unconditional support for the Cuban Revolution as it faces the gravest crisis in its history at the hands of US imperialism.

The restoration of capitalism in Cuba would be a defeat not just for the Cuban working class, but for workers across the world.

The best way we can help the Cuban Revolution is by fighting resolutely for the overthrow of our own capitalist ruling class at home, which is itself subservient to Western imperialism.

Long live the Cuban Revolution!
Workers of the world, unite!

At its height, the movement last weekend saw the French masses fight the police to within 300 metres of the steps of the Elysée Palace. We can only imagine the tension in the President’s office.

Across the country a million, perhaps two million people were mobilised. The ruling class has been shaken to its core.

Images of the burning town hall in Limoges have been played on an endless loop, and a great howl of sympathy has gone up for its charred brickwork and smashed glass.

Meanwhile, not a peep about how police tear-gassed peacefully assembling protests that very morning to engineer these results; or how the past weeks saw the jaws, teeth, eyes, and hands of teenage kids blasted to bits by militarised police.

The current crisis of capitalism, and the pent up class anger as a result, has meant that more people than ever are looking towards the ideas of Karl Marx. His predictions have been shockingly confirmed today and many are looking back to his ideas to find a way out of this horror without end. In Spain, where we are currently seeing a mass uprising of youth and workers, searches for "The Communist Manifesto" have increased by more than 5,000%.

But Marxism is not just a collection of good ideas, or a gospel to be followed unthinkingly, it is first and foremost a scientific method - that Marx based on the most advanced ideas of his time - which allows us to understand the world and its inner lawfulness so that we can act freely on it.

In our latest edition of the In Defence of Marxism magazine, we trace the origins of his ideas, and how the young Karl Marx developed them and launched an ideological missile which the bourgeoisie would never recover from.
