First woman in my family to not only go to college, but then she went on to get her masters degree. This degree felt so huge. She moved across the country and learned to live in the wild city of Boston. She knew no one. She navigated learning to drive there and living in an apartment with 4 other young women. Paying bills, rent, navigating student loans and working in the coding department of her school and substitute teaching, all while getting a freaking MASTERS DEGREE in Deaf Education!! I just can’t get over it. She is kind, she is smart, she is beautiful. I am so proud of you Dorothy. You will always and forever be an inspiration to me. ♥️ by @rhia_nnon_77
49 years old today. Had dinner with girlfriends last night and lunch today. In both instances I was asked if I have intentions for this next year. I said I feel as if I should be able to skip to 55 already or older even. I have worked since I was 13 years old. My children are grown and living solidly in their lives as adults. I have cared for aging in laws who passed. I lost my mother at the age of 36 and she was only 51. I want to skip to after 51. But I can’t. So here I am still in my 40’s and wondering what is next. I have ideas but I am also tired. This woman’s work is a lot right? This world is a lot. But my girlfriends remind me of the importance of thinking about myself, my intentions and what will come next for me. So on this day I am thankful for the women in my life that remind me again and again to remember who I am. This list includes my daughters. I am a pretty bad ass woman who has taken care of a lot of people in my life and my next chapter will be taking care of me. Here is to 49. ♥️ by @rhia_nnon_77

THIS QUEEN!!!! She is 25 today!!!!!!! My mind is blown. 25 years ago today this powerhouse of a human came into my life and changed absolutely everything for the better. She showed me the way. As she moves into her last semester of getting her Graduate Degree, I could not be more proud or in awe. She is the hardest working woman I know and I hope to be like her when I grow up. I love you @d.r.thy !!!!! You are a Goddess! Happy birthday!!!!! by @rhia_nnon_77

48 and still going strong-ish. Love you all. You make me laugh and fill my soul. Here’s to us all walking each other home in this life! by @rhia_nnon_77
When I had my first daughter, we named her Dorothy after her father’s mother. When I had my 2nd daughter we named her Rose because she looked “red as a Rose” according to a dear friend of ours. Then a few months after Rose was born a gay friend of ours met the girls and he said “All you need now is a Blanche and a Sophia!” I laughed so hard. I had named my daughters after a couple of Golden Girls. It seems so serendipitous now because as I re-watch that show, I see such beauty that women have in the company of one another. My girlfriends are so dear to me and mean so much to me and I feel honored to have named my daughters after 2 characters in the history of television that show me what it means to be a girlfriend. @goldengirls by @rhia_nnon_77

The Gypsy Rose documentary is a wild look at the human condition of turning a blind eye. In a society of litigiousness we all seem to want to keep to ourselves and stay out of situations that may get messy and uncomfortable. When Dorothy was in a psychology class at UT online during Covid, I watched a class with her and it was about human behavior. 9 out of 10 people on the streets will pass a person on the street in distress because they believe that someone else will take care of the situation or that they shouldn’t get involved and possibly have ramifications from getting involved. My heart sank when I saw that class. As someone from a long line of domestic abuse survivors, I have so many stories of people not wanting to get involved and therefore the victim felt like there was no support or hope so the best option was to stay in the abuse. I guess my point here is, let’s be willing to be wrong. Let’s question what is happening before our eyes and if we are wrong then be proven wrong. Because if you have a feeling that someone is being abused, you are at the very least opening a portal for them to see that there is someone out there that believes them. Picture above of my beautiful mother who was a survivor of domestic abuse from her father and my 2nd step father and her last boyfriend that damaged her brain a year before her aneurysm. by @rhia_nnon_77
