My name is Richard Scofano, and I’m a composer and bandoneonist. As an independent artist, I have the privilege of being one of many storytellers who use music to express emotions, share experiences, and create meaningful connections between people and cultures.

For me, composing is about creating music with meaning and content—music that has something to say, that comes from a personal place, and that can connect with others.

I’m joining the Recording Academy’s @songcompwing to #supporttodayscomposers and celebrate the creativity and contributions composers bring to today’s musical landscape.

Join me in supporting today’s composers!

RICHARD SCOFANO
Adagio de las Tres y Diez
Best Classical Instrumental Solo

As an independent artist, Adagio de las Tres y Diez represents a deeply personal chapter in my artistic journey.

Composed for bandoneón and string orchestra, this work is a musical reflection on loss, remembrance, acceptance, and hope. Born from the passing of my father, it is not only an expression of grief, but also a celebration of life, love, and the memories that remain with us.

Through this composition and interpretation, I continue my artistic journey to establish the bandoneón as a true concert instrument, exploring its lyrical depth, expressive possibilities, and unique voice within contemporary classical music.

“Virtuosity is not about conquering time, but inhabiting it. Not about playing faster, but about giving every note a reason to exist.”

I am deeply grateful for your time, listening, and consideration.
