Ford's Yucca, AZ proving grounds. SVE's Super Stallion was a very important Mustang prototype used to develop and demonstrate concepts that evolved into systems on the 2000 Cobra R, the 2003 SVT Cobra and future products, too. Features included a supercharged 5.4L DOHC engine with iron block and aluminum heads, 6-speed, IRS rear suspension and it was flex-fuel capable. by @rickybobby427ss

SMOKEY YUNICK According to the Daytona Beach Sunday News-Journal dated June 29, 1969, Smokey Yunick made the following observation when discussing Ford’s racing engines: “Comparing the 427 Tunnel Port and the 429 engines, there is quite a bit of difference in power,” said Yunick. “The 429 is stronger. But it takes about 30 horsepower to influence the speed by just one mile per hour at Daytona where the cars exceed 188 mph for average laps and hit about 195 on the main straights.” Within this statement, Yunick appears to make three key points: ■ Engine comparison: He indicated that the Boss 429 produced more power than the 427 Tunnel Port. ■ Horsepower vs. speed: Yunick suggested that at Daytona’s very high speeds, approximately 30 additional horsepower may be required to increase top speed by just 1 mph in the Ford Talladega. As a simple example, if a 600-hp engine produced a 180-mph top speed, roughly 630 hp might be required to reach 181 mph under similar conditions. For comparison, Chrysler engineers suggested that at speeds above about 175 mph, the 1969 Dodge Daytona required roughly 17 additional horsepower to gain 1 mph. ■ Lap speed vs. straightaway speed: Yunick also noted that cars averaging around 188 mph for a lap may reach approximately 195 mph on the straights, a difference of about 7 mph. Yunick’s 1969 Mustang, built for the NASCAR Grand Touring series, reportedly recorded an average lap speed of about 176 mph at Talladega Superspeedway, which set a NASCAR qualifing record. Yunick later stated in his interview that he guess the car would run 180mph. If the relationship between lap speed and straightaway speed he described holds true, exceeding a top speed of 180 mph would be achievable and 183mph would be consistent with the 7mph difference between top speed and lap average.speed. by @rickybobby427ss

Tangerine Terminator Between 2003 and 2004, Ford produced a mere 19,440 supercharged Mustang Cobras, earning the codename "Terminator" for its formidable performance. Equipped with an independent rear suspension, 6-speed Magnum transmission, and a 4.6L DOHC engine topped with a supercharger, this beast of a car left a lasting impression. The production numbers tell a story of exclusivity: 13,776 units rolled off the assembly line in 2003, while only 5,664 were produced in 2004, marking the final year of the New Edge body style. Among the 2004 models, a rare gem emerged: the Competition Orange paint job, offered exclusively that year. Only 281 hardtops and 72 convertibles were built, making this vibrant hue the rarest color for that year. by @rickybobby427ss
The 1989 GMC Syclone concept began on October 27, 1987, in the art studios of GMC Truck. Under the direction of Assistant Chief Designer Kim Neilsen, artist William Davis drew an idea of a conceptual truck from Kim’s imagination. Based on the existing S15 platform, the concept sketch features mesh-style rims, a body kit, and integrated fog lights. The finished sketch was then presented as an idea for a future production truck. Ultimately, it took two years before it was approved by GMC. Finally, what started as an idea on paper started to turn into reality in 1989. For the concept build, GMC used a familiar power plant. The turbocharged 3.8L V6 found in the legendary 1987 Buick Grand National was set into the engine bay. For the drivetrain, an Astro Van AWD system would be used. GMC took the completed concept truck to unveil at the January ’89 Chicago Auto Show. Surprisingly, it generated favorable interest and left people wondering if a production version was coming. It did come, but not before some big changes were made by @rickybobby427ss
