Formed in Rabat around 2001-2002,Syncopea emerged at a time when Casablanca’s metal scene was mainly focused on thrash and death metal.Syncopea took a different direction ,building their sound around progressive metal. Nizar ,Soufiane ,Hicham ,Badreddine won L’Boulevard’s Tremplin in 2004.They also returned as guests during the following two éditions, confirming their place among the important bands of that period . Beyond the performances and competitions, putting together and releasing an album with 6 tracks was an achievment itself Their work deserves to be remembered and rediscovered🤘 Big thanks to @bleedblackmb for the great discovery #moroccanrock #metal #Rabat #progmetal #syncope by @rida.votril
Reda Allali reflects on a different way of experiencing music: listening together, sharing songs, and creating memories with the people we love. Because music has always been more than just what we hear through our headphones. 🎶 #moroccanrock #rockmusic #hobahobaspirit #rock #memories by @rida.votril
From Settat, Gnawa Stone emerged from a passion for rock, taking their name from their early performances of The Rolling Stones covers. They soon forged their own identity with a powerful fusion of Gnawa and progressive rock, creating their signature SettaFusion sound. In 2009, they won the Fusion category of Génération Mawazine, marking their rise as one of Morocco’s standout alternative acts. #gnawa #fusion #mawazine #rockmusic #maroc by @rida.votril
A 2010 live recording of Mazagan at villa des Arts.Captured from the audience. The footage may not be perfect in quality but it preserves a moment of the band’s live history Mazagan a name that became part of the story of Moroccan music by blending rock influences and Moroccan roots « Ya Labas » is a great example of what made Mazagan stand out. Driven by an infectious chaâbi groove, the song brings together traditional Moroccan sounds and an energetic approach which shows how Moroccan musical heritage could be transformed into contemporary fusion without losing it’s soul #moroccanrock #worldmusic #chaabigroove #mazagan #fusion by @rida.votril
More than a live performance, this is a tribute to a generation of musicians who helped shape Morocco’s rock and metal scene. Performed by Betweenatna(Ex:Immortal Spirit,Nekros,Darga) this rendition of « 3abada » recalls the events of 2003, wheen fourteen members of Morocco’s metal community were arrested in Casablanca.Their passion for heavy music, often sung in English, their black clothing, and their association with metal culture were wrongly portrayed as signs of Satanism. But betweenatna is more than a band with a message.Songs like « Tota », « Bakiyat Marlboro », «Lay chafi » showcase their signature humour and storytelling and that what makes Betweenatna one of the most unique bands in Morocco’s alternative music scene. #betweenatna #MoroccanRock #metal #metalheads #festival by @rida.votril
Some songs don’t age. They wait. Fifteen years ago, at Mawazine 2011, Hoba Hoba Spirit performed Bab Sebta. For more than two decades, Hoba Hoba Spirit have turned everyday Moroccan life into music. Through fictional characters, vivid narratives, and familiar faces, they transformed ordinary stories into songs that felt deeply real. Blending rock, reggae, and Gnawa influences, they gave a voice to the people not by preaching, but by telling stories that were honest, fearless, and unmistakably Moroccan. Thank you, Hoba Hoba Spirit, for reminding us that the most powerful stories are often the ones closest to home. #HobaHobaSpirit #BabSebta #HayhaMusic #MoroccanRock #WorldMusic by @rida.votril
A cactus doesn’t need perfect conditions to grow. Neither did Darga. Like the cactus they took their name from, Darga flourished despite difficult conditions. Their music was the fruit vibrant, nourishing and meant to be shared. But their lyrics were the thorns: sharp, uncompromising and ready to sting anyone willing to come too close to the truth. Through their slogan, “Wled Chaâb Sound System,” Darga proudly stood as the voice of ordinary Moroccans, turning everyday struggles into songs of resilience, identity and hope. This performance is more than a concert it’s the spirit of a band that proved even the harshest landscapes can bloom. 🌵🔥 #Darga #MoroccanRock #Morocco #FusionMusic #ReggaeRock by @rida.votril
While many Moroccan fusion bands found their roots in Gnawa, Haoussa carved a different path drawing inspiration from the hypnotic rhythms and spiritual intensity of Issawa. The result? A raw blend of punk, rock, ska and Moroccan tradition that feels less like a concert and more like controlled madness. Khalid, Nadir, Ali Doliprane, Azeddine and Zakaria created a sound that was raw, chaotic and impossible to stand still to. This performance with Mehdi Nassouli and the Issaoua of Fez at the Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira perfectly captures that unique sound. Chaos, trance, rebellion… that’s the Haoussa experience. 🔥🤘 #Haoussa #MoroccanRock #MoroccanMusic #SkaPunk #FusionMusic by @rida.votril
