One of the nicest fish I’ve ever caught, This sun perch was unreal the underside of its belly was almost like a real orange peel had been stuck to it. So amazing
And super bright in the flesh.
Caught on the Brazos River under stone arch bridge on my @riggedandreadyrods X5 Adventurer paired with the RR3000 reel.

Nice day out last week in and around London, hit the underground out to Essex to try a couple river spots but nothing much apart from a couple tiny Chubb, headed back central and manged a few little perch with one decent size at about 25cm and a lovely little Zander.
All caught on the ultra light 165 fish rig by @riggedandreadyrods
I had the a predator Max with me but there was no need.
Straight into the pub for a beer and a burger.

A fish worth getting drenched for! 🎣💪 The mighty River Kent produces again! 🔥

The river was running high today, with plenty of colour in the water and debris coming down. Lost one to start the day, but just 10 minutes later, I landed this absolute monster of a hen fish! 🐟 What a scrap she put up! 💥

Ended up losing another one after this beauty too 🙃 But nevertheless, days like this make it all worthwhile. Absolutely buzzing! 💪🎣

Summer slipping into autumn, cooler mornings and falling water temperatures… time to get back out after pike. 🍂🎣

I leave them alone through the warmer months, when warm water and reduced oxygen can make recovering from a fight harder. For me, it’s the water temperature that matters, not just the date on the calendar.

The @fjallravenofficial Stubben is perfect for the way I like to fish: tackle on my back, moving between spots and stalking the margins. It’s a sturdy bag and a seat in one, so when I find somewhere worth a few extra casts, I’ve already got somewhere to perch.

I also carry a packable unhooking mat. It takes up very little room and gives me a protective surface for unhooking if a fish needs to come onto the bank. I wet it before use to help protect the pike’s skin and slime layer, have everything ready and keep time out of the water to a minimum. Travelling light still means making room for fish care.

I’m using the @riggedandreadyrods Predator Max, with its extension and two interchangeable tips giving four length options from 1.85m to 2.53m. At 2.15m, the tips have maximum casting weights of 45g and 100g; with the extension at 2.53m, those maximums are 40g and 90g. Plenty of flexibility for different lures and swims.

Strike Pro Guppies are some of my favourite lures. That side-to-side glide, flash and little wobble on the pause give me plenty of ways to vary the retrieve—especially when a pike follows but needs a little encouragement to commit.

My preference for fluorocarbon comes down to its low visibility and abrasion resistance, plus avoiding the kinks you can get with some wire traces. But abrasion resistance isn’t bite protection: pike can cut fluorocarbon, and wire is the more dependable choice against their teeth.

Cooler water, autumn colours and the anticipation of that next hit. This is what I’ve been waiting for. 🍁
