Some days are just special… Sometimes everything seems to just fall into place. A dream, a plan, a prayer… Sometimes the alignment is just there! Today was one of those days. How could it not be when you are greeted in the morning by the rare bloom of an ‘Easter Lily’ cactus, its delicate sunlike faces looking up at ‘Johnson’s Post’. A bloom that lasts only 12-24 hours… It felt like a wink from the universe... Today was going to be special! The Market was a tremendous success, it breathed new life into ‘the old building on the side’… and now that the building is alive, well… who knows what it will bloom into! THANK YOU, to everyone who made the day so special, our vendors, guests and team, thank you for a fantastic day! See you tomorrow! 8:00-14:00. ‘Johnson’s Post’. by @rikareadsalot
Julle deel pure vreugde! #thisbookmademethinkofyou #bookrecommendations #booklover #romancebookstagram by @rikareadsalot
Love reading outdoors? Now that the weather is getting warmee and sunnier, I habe found the perfect bench for you! This corner of Fransmanshoek, near Mossel Bay in the Western Cape, is not as windy as the other side 😄 Clear skies, the open sea and waves crashing onto the rocks 🥰 The views here make me think of a book I read recently, Wild Dark Shore. What book does this make you think of? #readmorebooks #spendtimeinnature #fransmanshoek by @rikareadsalot
Its Friday and that means another edition of #followfriday! This Friday I am giving a #shoutout to a cool group of bookstagrammers who pretty much quadruple my #tbr pile every month! Book: The Witch Author: Freida McFadden @fmcfaddenauthor Listen, you already know... if Freida writes it, I'm gonna read it 🤣 I enjoyed this, easy read, loved the characters! It runs a dual timeline with a family thread woven in throughout the book. Not as witchy as I thought, and it counts as one of the Fall @goodreads challenge books! Double win 🤩 by @rikareadsalot
Book: The fragile mental health of strong women Author: Michelle Kekana @jacanamedia Trigger warnings: suicidal ideation, infant lost, baby blues/post partum depression, sexual abuse, depression. This book follows the lives of three South African women, their families, dealing with depression and trying to find the will to go on. It is so well-written that I had to take breaks inbetween chapters as my heart got too heavy. Highly recommend this book to all women, and to anyone who would like to get into South African literature. You won't regret it! #readmorebooks #michellekekana #jacanamedia #southafricanauthors by @rikareadsalot
Thank you @de_huijs for hosting us yesterday. Such a lovely space! We had a great time 🤩 by @rikareadsalot
When you walk into @johnsons.post , craving a latte, Sips says "I got you"! A friendly face, 6 years of brewing skills and expertly roasted beans from @cproasters makes for a satisfying brew! #johnsonspost #cproasters #igotyou #iconicmosselbay by @rikareadsalot
On Tuesday I went to see Verity at the @sterkinekor at @gardenroutemall with @marlize.vb Listen, I was not okay. The amount of times I covered my eyes in anticipation of WHAT I KNEW WAS COMING, HAVING READ THE BOOK 3 YEARS AGO, and then still screamed. Whoever sat behind us got two shows: 1. The movie, 2. Me and my reactions. by @rikareadsalot
There's a new kid on the block, and her name is MRS CLAUS! @the_old_york_house_ is the home of Mrs Claus & Co, where you will find the most wonderful collection of all things Christmas. Have a coffee and a treat while you shop, why not?? Where to find them: 33 York St, George #christmas #christmasiscoming #theoldyorkhouse by @rikareadsalot
Book: Love letters to a serial killer Author:Tasha Coryell @tashacoryell I can't exactly judge anybody else's love life at this point, but Hannah (FMC) made me feel better about mine 🤣✌️ If you've never experienced online dating, you might not find this as funny as I did. Hannah is a DELULU woman who has given up on online dating, but she LOVES the murder forums. She gets obsessed with a man charged with the murder of four women, and starts writing to him in prison. She even attends his trial! What follows? Well, I can't exactly tell you EVERYTHING here right? Go read it yourself 🤣 #loveletterstoaserialkiller #tashacoryell by @rikareadsalot
Another one of my @bargainbookssa surprise bargains from the corner shelf! Book: That summer Author: Jennifer Weiner @jenniferweinerwrites Trigger warning for this book: SA Yet again, I judged a book by its cover and didnt read the blurb ✌️ I was expecting a little Summer romance novel, and what I got was DRAMA! A great surprise indeed! This is an interesting story about two Diana's who grew up very differently, but yet somehow they ended up being connected. This story also gives the reader a deep look into all male schools, "traditions" and image. Favourite character: Beatrice (14yo) is funky, creative and takes a stand for what she believes in. Recommended to anyone who likes a bit of mystery and drama. #thatsummer #jenniferweiner by @rikareadsalot
