Here’s how to do the wipe reveal effect! It’s a super simple way to reveal text or products and makes for a really fun visual hook in your videos 🕺:Step 1: Film a clip doing a wiping action with your hand. Import it into CapCut, add any text you like, place it close to your hand, make it last for the entire video, then export it.Step 2: Delete the text from your project, tap Overlay, and add the exported video. Resize it to fill the frame and trim the beginning so it starts where your hand begins the wiping action.Step 3: Select the overlay, go to Mask, choose the Horizontal mask, rotate it to 90°, tap Invert, place the mask line near your hand, and add your first keyframe.Step 4: As your hand moves across the screen, keep moving the mask line with it. I tried my best to explain this outfit transition edit as clearly as possible 😭 It honestly looks harder than it is, and once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty simple!!Here’s a more detailed breakdown 💌:Step 1: Film a full body shot moving your finger down to up and standing still for a bit as your before shot, then record a few clips in your final outfit for the after shot.Step 2: Get PNGs of each clothing item from your final outfit. I used Gemini to isolate each clothing item as PNGs.Step 3: Import your before clip into CapCut. When your finger is pointing down, add all your clothing PNGs as overlays and remove their backgrounds. At the start of each overlay, add a keyframe and place the item downwards out of frame. Then go to the point where your finger points up and position the items where you want them to appear. The next keyframes will be added automatically.Step 4: Find the point where your finger sticks out again and split all the overlays there. Apply Motion Blur to the split section. If you don’t have CapCut, you can use PhotoRoom to add Motion Blur to your clothing PNGs and then import those into your edit. If your editing app already has a Motion Blur effect, that works too.Step 5: Add your after clip and extend all the blurry overlays a few frames into it. At the start of your blurry overlay, add a keyframe. Then keep moving a few frames forward and repositioning it around your body, making sure it always overlaps you. At the final keyframe, move it out of frame. Do this for all your blurry overlays.
