POSTS STORIES REELS

I walk the same halls I once did as a teenager, now as a teacher at Pope, the high school I graduated from. Returning here feels like full circle. Inspiring the next generation of Scarborough kids in the place that helped shape me.

I came to Scarborough when I was just six months old. My family immigrated from the Philippines. I am the youngest of five with two brothers and two sisters. We spent a lot of time together in the neighborhood. Growing up in Scarborough, I learned so much, both figuratively and literally.

Living here taught me the value of community. I went to elementary school at St. Martin De Porres, then high school at Pope, and university at UTSC. The only time I left was for my master’s at U of T downtown. And every time I came back to Kennedy Station, I’d loosen up my shirt, take a breath, and think, “Yeah, I’m home.”

I don't try to be the “cool” or “fun” teacher, I just try to be my best self. I believe students connect with authenticity. I want them to see that you can come from the same neighborhood, the same background, and still make an impact.

A big part of how I connect with my students is through basketball. I coach, and for many kids in Scarborough, basketball is more than just a game. It’s an outlet. It teaches teamwork, builds confidence, and provides a positive focus for our youth.

I am truly grateful to have been selected to represent the voices of dedicated teachers through Love Scarborough. This means a lot. It’s an extension of my gratitude for all the amazing teachers and mentors I've had throughout my education. I wouldn’t be here without them; their impact is felt in every part of my journey. The list of those who shaped me is extensive, and I’ve always strived to embody the best qualities I learned from them. What I’m doing now is a reflection of my peers, mentors, and everyone who has pushed me to grow.

Supporting SHN and Love, Scarborough is about equity — making sure everyone has access to care, education and opportunity.

When I was nominated and selected to be apart of this special campaign to support Scarborough Health Network, I knew exactly what place truly represents Scarborough for me—my high school, St. John Paul, aka Pope.

Sharing this moment with Ayah, made it even more meaningful. Family, community, and giving back—it's all part of what makes Scarborough so special.

So happy that I can finally share this! This is an experience I will never forget. Super grateful to @goodlifefitness and @groundglassmedia for choosing me to be part of the #changeyourstory campaign. When I started that journey so many years ago I never thought it would lead to something like this. So happy and thankful that I can share my story with many more people.

Also, the second video is a small clip of a video I had to make during this campaign. These words are important to me as they don't only pertain to fitness. I believe you can adopt this mindset to just about anything whether it be your career, relationships, and/or home life. Set high expectations for yourself, do things whole heartedly, never settle for less than what you believe you deserve , tek time lol move at your own pace, stay consistent, and stay positive!

Finally, the last one is that likkle video I made on Windows Movie Maker lol which now serves as a likkle reminder/motivation for myself.

SHARE THE WELLNESS 🙏
Also a BIG SHOUTOUT to @notjustlng for pushing me to do this. U already know wa gwan haha. Mad love always 💙🙏 #changeyourstory #goodlife #canada #fitness #transformation #fitnessjourney #weightlossjourney #trusttheprocess #lovetheprocess #investinyourself #wellness #growthmindset #dreamchasers #dreamville #babylechongang4ever #THANKYOUGOD by @rl.supnet

Dear Toronto,

The @torontoproam showed up yet again for what has been a magical Season 4.

A season filled with community impact, competitive intensity, and basketball CULTURE!

Each year, the feat doesn’t gets easier, but our team continues to improve and execute at a high level. Before the bright lights of Opening Night, there’s the months of strategic planning, ideation, moments of stillness, and reflection.

This year was very meaningful to me for many reasons but more importantly because we’ve uphold our continued commitment to our community. Win, lose or draw, we show up and make sure everyone has a positive experience at the TPA.

We started as a grassroots community organization and since then, our team has expanded its a global sport property with an international reach. Alongside all of the stats/ KPI, the TPA has set the standard for what summertime basketball in Toronto is… Respectfully!

For those of you who who’ve helped us build and/or contributed towards our platform, we’re grateful for your continued support.

For those who still don’t believe or understand the vision, you will continue to have a front row seat to this new sports revolution we’re building! Run with us or watch us WIN! 😊

One thing is for certain and two things for sure, we gon make some ish shake! Stand by who stand with you! Genuinely Love and support go further than any dollar exchange.

Season 4 in the books 📚 Alhamdulilah ♥️‼️

33. Jesus Year. It’s been a year of those so-called ‘growing pains', the kind that don’t just happen, they actually change you.

Being back in the Philippines for my birthday for the first time since I was born here feels wild, and honestly, it’s exactly where I needed to be. This trip has taught me just how loud family love can be. Between my cousins joking about me being “not Filipino” (I am lol) to the errand-filled/meaningful days with my mom and her side of the family, I’ve been soaking it all in.

It hasn’t been under the circumstances I would have wanted. We lost Tita Sally and finding out Tita Nelly passed away back home in Toronto couple days into this trip was heavy. Someone I’ve grown so close to in recent years… losing her hurts. But honestly, it’s put into sharp focus who you need to celebrate and keep close.

I’m so grateful for every hug, every joke, and especially the surprise birthday gesture of my nieces and nephews posted up with my poster back in Toronto at STC that made me laugh and tear up all at once. 🥹😂🙏🏼 Thank you

If this year taught me anything: appreciate the people who truly rock with you. Celebrate them. Hold the people that hold you. Here’s to 33. Thank you God🙏🏽✨🇵🇭 by @rl.supnet

After walking the halls of St. John Paul II Secondary School as a student, Lance returned years later as a teacher, inspiring the next generation in the same community that helped shape him.

Having grown up in Scarborough after immigrating from the Philippines as a baby, Lance is proud to give back to the place he’s always called home. Every day, he’s helping students build confidence, discover their potential and create bright futures of their own.

For Lance, supporting the Love, Scarborough campaign means investing in the people and places that have always been there for him. 💙

"I have a lot of relatives who work at Scarborough Health Network; my cousins and even my Titas. Supporting SHN feels personal. It means a lot to represent them in a positive way and to see them get the kind of support and recognition they deserve."

For Lance Supnet, giving back to Scarborough means investing in the next generation.

After immigrating from the Philippines as a baby, Lance grew up in Scarborough, attended local schools and now teaches at the same high school he graduated from, St. John Paul II Secondary School. Every day, he's helping students see what's possible when they believe in themselves and stay connected to their community.

Outside the classroom, Lance mentors youth through basketball, using the sport to build confidence, teach teamwork and create positive opportunities for young people across Scarborough.

His story reflects the values of family, service and community that have shaped both his Filipino heritage and his commitment to helping others succeed. Whether he's teaching, coaching or supporting SHN through Love, Scarborough, Lance continues to give back to the community that helped raise him.

In celebration of Filipino Heritage Month, we're proud to recognize community leaders like Lance who are helping build a brighter future for Scarborough. 🇵🇭

Life in SJPII Hospitality Coming Soon… by @rl.supnet

End of Summer Wrap up 2025✍🏽🫶🏼:

Summer of basketball, family, and real community. I'm learning to make choices that line up with the life I want. Between basketball events/clinics, family dinners, and days with just myself: I learned alignment isn't dramatic, it's the tiny, stubborn yeses you give to the life you actually want. Carrying that rhythm into the next quarter of the year. Discipline over procrastination, honesty over convenience, and family over noise. Thank you Summer 2025 💜🌞
