"Cold Glitter: The Untold Story Of Canadian Glam” by Robert Dayton is available from the great publisher @feral_house Over 400 pages of excitement! Two pounds of Glam and Glitter (almost a kilogram)! How do you get it? Ask for it by name at your favourite local book or record store too. Plus if you can't afford books right now, you CAN request it from your library. Please do that! It's a cheap and effective way to support books. Ten years in the making, Cold Glitter covers Glam Rock in Canada with style and humor and explores the universality of creating music and art far from cultural capitals. This book is a voyage of PIZZAZZAMATAZZ for anyone interested in excitement and Glam in general as well as those most curious about underacknowledged parts of Canadian cultural history. Countless original interviews (Sweeney Todd! Rough Trade! Fludd! Crackers! Danger! Aut’Chose!) were done across the country on my troubled credit card! This book documents Glam in Canada primarily in the 70s! Anything with a bit of pixie dust that is outrageous and kicks against Canadian cultural conservatism involving music, fashion, strong visuals, gender play, and performance. by @robertdaytonjunior

a clip from my recent Kreative Kontrol talk with Robert Dayton about his illuminating new book, 'Cold Glitter: The Untold Story of Canadian Glam,' which is out now via Feral House! this was a good, frank talk too, check it out. @robertdaytonjunior @feral_house by @robertdaytonjunior
sometimes you wind up having a couple of conversations about Encore Records and Orange Monkey Records, and it feels like you’re home again. such a sensation is conjured during episode 1146 of the Kreative Kontrol K-W Rules podcast, because Robert Dayton is here to discuss his book ‘Cold Glitter: The Untold Story of Canadian Glam,’ our favourite record stores and venues in the conjoined cities of Kitchener-Waterloo, the time Mike Wallace visited that area for a ‘60 Minutes’ story and called it “a suburb of Toronto,” what inspired Robert to write this book, some background about the subversive aspects of Canadian glam and how Bryan Adams figures into it, conservatism in Canadian cultural institutions, an anecdote about Gregg Turkington, Mike Love, and Charles Manson, waking up after sleeping on Goddo, future plans, and much more. it was a pleasure to speak with Robert and ‘Cold Glitter’ is a must-read for music history fans, whether you’re Canadian or have designs on breaking Canada up to extract our resources or engage in treason. please read it and listen to us! thanks! 📸: Kimberlee Granholm @robertdaytonjunior @feral_house by @robertdaytonjunior
