Photographed and interviewed director Hirokazu Kore-eda for @verge. We sat down at @neonrated’s offices and talked about his latest film, Sheep in the Box, and how AI might (or might not) help us process our grief.

Forever grateful to @knguyen for editing and @uchi.yama for interpreting. Head to the verge dot com to read it and catch Sheep in the Box in select theaters now! ❤️🫡 by @robynkanner

i heard doing selfie videos with ai generated captions was a great way to build an audience online so i went into the woods of massachusetts with a 35MM camera and took photographs of beautiful landscapes with nobody in them ❤️ by @robynkanner

if we’re getting lunch or going on a walk i’m taking a film camera by @robynkanner

Photographed and interviewed Japanese director Sho Miyake for @verge. We talked about the US theatrical debut of Two Seasons, Two Strangers and Small, Slow But Steady, which is available for the first time stateside on demand now. Sitting down at @metrograph, Sho answered the big existential questions — like why we, as humans, tell stories — and also what he thinks about AI.

@knguyen on the edit. Thank you to @uchi.yama for translating. And thank you to New Directors/New Films for lowkey being one of the better film festivals NY has to offer. ❤️❤️❤️ by @robynkanner

highlights from last week in oklahoma city include: speaking at @allthosecreative.okc, drinking @willowcoffeeokc, and visiting the national memorial & museum (did u know they have the getaway car on display??? it’s surreal.) anyway, oklahoma city is filled with very lovely people and i had a wonderful time. shot the whole thing on 35mm (a blend of cinestill 800 & lomo!) ❤️🫡 by @robynkanner

Photographed and interviewed Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason for @verge while at @thenyff. We talked The Love That Remains — his latest film that answers life’s existential questions and also really practical questions like what to do when one of your kids shoots the other with a bow and arrow (it’s funny, I promise.)

@knguyen on the edit. The Love That Remains is in theaters now. @janus_films ❤️ by @robynkanner
